components have not increased that much since prices are negotiated in bulk over a few years - usually increases are capped at 1-2%...in fact the new 12in is just a tiny bit more expensive than the 8...

labour costs have gone up quite a bit...

But the bulk of the increase you are seeing is an attempt to increase profit margins - that’s why Ford can sometimes throw huge discounts on the hood...
