Default 23 heated steering wheel

Called around to multiple dealers regarding the 22G06 bulletin regarding certain f150s built between certain months. Mine happens to fall outside of that window by one month. The service advisor I spoke with said he spoke with a field engineer and was told that the software for mine isn’t compatible for the fix and that I’m pretty much SOL. Can anyone on here confirm that? I’m finding that hard to believe.

Is this a recall on the heated steering wheel or an upgrade to have it installed? I searched high and low for my 2023 with the options I wanted and the heated wheel was on the sticker and one of the few trucks out there that didn't have it deleted due to the chip shortage. I lucked out or did I?

It’s an upgrade/tsb if you will. But I was told by a dealer that my trucks software wouldn’t allow for one to be installed.

This TSB appears to only apply to Lightnings and Canadian ICE F150s (hence the low volume of only 6,000 trucks).

@23tremor is your truck Canadian or US? If Canadian and built within that time frame it absolutely should apply to your truck. If US, the issue is NOT software, but the fact that the dealer cant do it without charging you as Ford wont reimburse them. I have a 23 Tremor that had the heated steering wheel deleted and added it back. The software needs to be changed via Forscan to make the heated steering wheel work (along with changing out the steering wheel itself, the SCCM and the HVAC module so you have the heated steering wheel button), but all of that has been well documented on here showing what to do.

Sounds like your dealer doesnt know what they are talking about, but in this day and age it is the norm that people on a forum know more about a vehicle than the sales people and service writers at a dealership.

I mean, if your VIN isn't on the list... it isn't on the list. Ford isn't a mom n pop shop with the kids running the till..

that just means your truck isn't programed to just throw in the hardware and have it work. you can still add it in without much effort as you would need to use a program like for scan to go turn on the option for it after you install it.
