When you have to book 2 hotel rooms and spend 3 days to make a trip pulling your RV from SE Michigan to the upper lower peninsula, you're not gonna buy an electric pickup.
As soon as they make an F150 that has the RANGE of a gas pickup with the ability to fully recharge under an hour, I would then consider one.

If there was a PHEV with 50 (or more) miles of electric range I would buy one right now. Being able to just plug it in at home every day would be awesome
If there was an electric F150, I MIGHT buy one depending on range. I like to think that I use my F150 for long trips in the middle of nowhere, which could be an issue if the range wasn't good. Give me 1000 miles and I'll be happy
Give me bidirectional charging to be able to use it as a solar/home battery, and now you have my attention...

I'm really only interested in an EV that is proven and works as its supposed to...with a decent range.

Current EV's get less than a third of that in real world driving conditions, with the Tesla 3 Long-Range version reaching around 289 miles only; and the Tesla Model 3 reaching 239 miles.
Out of Spec Motoring drove a Mustang Mach E from Los Angles to Colorado and such long distance trips you have to plan them from charging point to charging point, and spend hours upon hours waiting during charges
I might be tempted with an EV for daily work commutes, but, an EV truck is definitely not in my future any time soon.

Didn't pan out so well back then either. Plus the added costs of batteries, mining the materials, down time charging if there's a place to recharge, where does that power derive from, what were the costs involved in that, etc.

I had my slot cars as I grew up, had Lionel trains too, but I'll keep my fleet on dependable fossil fuels.

Teslas are cool commuter vehicles for sure, but they (nor ANY PEV) are no where near close to replacing most gasoline powered vehicles for how Americans use their vehicles, especially pickups.
