1. It's quick. I was going to get the PB for not only efficiency, but that it's pretty quick. But Lightning will blow it out of the water.
2. It's definitely going to handle better.
3. It's going to ride better than the 2021s.
4. Much cheaper to operate. (I have 247K miles on my 2011 5.0. Love it, but have spent more on gas than the cost of the truck.)
5. They REALLY hit it out of the park with pricing.
6. The frunk is great. Eliminates the need for a tonneau.
7. Towing capacity is enough.
8. In theory, will be more reliable, though early years will have teething pains. One hesitation with the PowerBoost is that it's complicated: ICE with turbos, complex transmission, integrated motors, hybrid integration is inherently more complicated, etc.

The only reason I haven't placed a deposit is that there isn't a Limited trim yet. Betting that will come in the following year.

Congrats, Ford. You did great. These are going to sell like hotcakes.
I have an 18 Limited now and I don' t think there is going to be a limited EV, there is really nothing else you can add to it. What other options besides badging would you expect this vehicle to have in that trim. This platinum has a better audio system and every single limited feature I have and more, massaging seats, auto park, full autonomous driving, nappa leather etc, it also costs more than the limited. I suspect they may reserve the limited for the Hybrid or gas line because it offers a greater separation of features that may be more appealing to those buyers.

Placed a deposit on the lighting day 1. Would be targeting the Lariat trim if I decide to go through with it .

Never really considered the Cybertruck because of how ridiculous it looked.

HOWEVER. Comparing the tri-motor Cybertruck to the Lightning, it’s really not close. Assuming the Cybertruck specs are pan out, it will be the superior EV truck in nearly every way.

So despite the fact I hate the way it looks, I think I would pursue the Cybertruck between the two. Function over form in this case. All depending on real world results of course. Also, Tesla has zero experience building vehicles that endure truck duties so there’s that. But if the paper specs bear out to reality…

Anyone feel the same way?

Batteries are far more expensive than the engine and $10k doesn't even cover the cost.

Just think, in a few short years, when one goes to their local track, there won't be any exhaust noise! Just very quite electric cars driving down the track, somewhat like watching slot cars race, as I did as a kid. the 300 mile "extended range" thing is the show stopper for me, If you like to hunt in the western US, no bs range is important. This is why I have two large fuel tanks on my F150, I don't like being out in the desert(s) without plenty of fuel; however, those that drive almost always in town, and/or short trips, it may be just the ticket, a 70,000 dollar ticket, but the ticket nonetheles.

Ha, MENSA! Reminds me of one of my favorite comics of all time. For those of us old enough to remember Gary Larsen and The Far Side (was there a better comic series?)

Picture a door of a business, with a sign above reading "MENSA Meeting today!" Then, on the door, near the handle, another sign reading "PUSH". Finally, the MENSA member trying to get in, by, you guessed it.....pulling on the door with all his might.

Folks, let’s keep it civil. Use your ignore list as needed.

Default Red Herrings/Fake Problems with EVs

Battery Production is less pollutive/extractive than petroleum extraction, refining, and combustion. Disposal and recycle opportunities increase as the production volume increases plus there are already uses for EV batteries after they've ended their automotive life. https://blog.ucsusa.org/hanjiro-ambr...-ev-batteries/

Per capita (per person) energy consumption has peaked and is declining. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator...C?locations=US

The increase in distributed power generation (home solar/home wind) and the general need for electrical grid upgrades should also solve grid capacity issues.

I don't trust Tesla to make a pickup truck - we've got 100 years of truck building intelligence in Ford/GM/Dodge.

That's before any critiques about the CyberTruck's weirdness (looks like it was built for a gamer who has never been to Lowe's) or it's non-union production.

If EV's are quieter, then they must be dangerous. Time for the federal government to stop giving credits for them and instead charge for a tax stamp.

Form follows function in the case of the F-150 and other pickups. They have the shape they have because it works in the real world.

The Cybertruck is designed to attract attention, much like the gullwing doors of the Model X. It’s a look-at-me vehicle.

If you want a Tesla then get a Tesla. Nothing wrong with that but the CT isn’t a practical pickup truck for pickup truck duties.
