It also does happen as much as it use to, because you can always haul a few jerry cans as needed. For those people using their truck as a daily commuter, and grocery getter, you're right on the money; however, in the fly over states where many people don't live in cramped cities, where there are still a million miles of dirt roads, having range is important. For the city dwellers that once in a blue moon, actually go out into the open spaces, range is important to them, at that time. The key is, not all Americans live in or near a large metro area.

I also expect some of those 100,000 will Not Take Delivery. I believe you're right on the "future delivery MY". Remember the bronco? 2020 turned into 2021 and 2022. My guess is, as each model year is reached, a new price and a new list of options will be the soup of the day.

Agreed, see my last point - % of people that need the extended range of a truck with a 36 gallon tank is very low in the country. Remember most cars don't have that range either. As a populace, those that need the range are comparitively few - it doesn't discount them at all, EV's just aren't going to work for them in the near future, and that's fine, it's a % game.

Default Ford Lightning Charging While Driving

Not sure anyone would actually know the answer to this question but I'll throw it up here anyway.... If you have a plug in Hybrid F-150, like the Lightning... could you put a gas generator in the bed and plug it into your charger so you could charge your battery while driving? Obviously you could stop at a rest stop for a couple of hours and re-charge, but can you jury rig it to charge while driving.

Haha, we've come full circle. I saw a video of a guy using a gas generator to charge his tesla enough to get to a station. LOL. I have no clue if it would work while the vehicle is in motion though.

Lightning is not a PHEV, it is an EV.

You cannot start vehicle while plugged in.

I am wondering if a roll over accident with a 9000 pickup the cab has any option with all that weight but to crush the occupants?

Average American drives less than 26 miles per day and most will be charging at their home every week or 2. Very few are long haulers driving 300 miles at a time if you look into stats available. You'd be shocked how many people don't leave their city/town nevermind state. Fords range is also ultra conservative based on some reviews and also based on 1000 lbs in the box. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...es-per-driver/
