I'm shocked at the affordability. I thought for sure when I first heard they were doing an all electric F150, it would start at $75k at least.

I will say though that 300 miles is disappointing. Perhaps this partly explains the reasonable price. A truck that could do 5-600 miles would probably cost a lot more.

For people who tow with their truck, that range just won't cut it. You'd probably be lucky to get 150 miles on one charge, depending of course on what you're towing. But since many people don't tow at all with their F150, this might be a homerun.

Default Lightning Impressions

The Lightning appears to be a great first go at an electric truck. I like the huge frunk, but am not a fan of the huge screen. I also feel that it's a great truck for short distance towing, but towing my travel trailer 200 miles could get too close to the driving range for towing a 7,000 lb loaded trailer.

Oh, yeah, towing is going to be rough. At least based on towing numbers from vehicles like the Tesla Model X.

The bigger towing concern is that most charging stations are set up for pull forward or back in, normal parking spots. This is the same problem Tesla will be facing with the CyberTruck. They need pull through stations like, yesterday. But they are few in both EAs network and Tesla's. So hopefully they don't wait too long.

Just got through watching tonight's unveiling. Honestly I think the Lightning is flat out beautiful and I would definitely consider buying one

I hope Ford will add HDPP option, because max payload of 2000 pounds (with std battery) is a bit short for actual HDPP owners.

I have gotten over 770 miles on the highway with a tank of gas with both a 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8. I expect similar with my PowerBoost. I would struggle with the 300 mile range. However, I live in a small Midwest city of 400,000 and can drive across town (15 miles) in traffic in 25 minutes. If I lived in the suburb of a larger city and drove downtown to work and went to the lake on the weekends I might feel different.

I will say the over 600hp and 770lb.-ft of torque is jaw dropping for a full size pickup.

I'm honestly really tempted to get it as my first truck I buy with my own money. I'm a little hesitant on the charging times as well as the range, wish it was a little more like 350 or 400 but I definitely think it's a really good start, especially at $40,000.
