If true, that is hilariously ironic.
It's hilarious that Ford sought a patent, back in 2018, for a removable power source to possibly be used as a range extender?

I think it's great that they realized that a patent didn't exist for something, and then sought it out, to lock others out. Very smart.

Along these lines, I can see AAA of the future, mobile fast charge stations as part of their road side rescue service. Imagine some high power (diesel) generator mounted to an F350, that can come along, and get you some amount of charge to get you to the next station, or home. As EV's become more popular, this will be an issue. Heck, people still run out of gas! It will no doubt be a necessary service.

The future of EVs will be hot-swappable battery packs. At some point, all or some of the battery pack component will be accessible, and swappable. That's the only thing that makes sense. It will be like propane tanks.

Such BS like "the grid can't handle BEV's". This is from my Post #645. The provenance is that it is put out by Dow Jones, by way of the Wall Street Journal, owned by Rupert Murdoch. The guy that owns Fox News.
Yeah, how dare we point out that the article linked says: "likely".

Overnight charging would give you up to 24 miles.

For full extended range, charge time of up to 107 hrs(4.46days). So yeah, totally feasible...

I've been told that this won't end up happening. That the batteries in EVs will continue to evolve into more and more vehicle components to increase range. I think we are decades away from removeable battery packs that can be quickly swapped.

But still ironic! LOL

"Hey EVs are the future. We need to get off of fossil fuels. By the way, we sell a gas powered portable generator to power your EV!"

Well clearly then if you've been told it's not happening, it's not happening.

No one knows what will be in place years from now.

Yeah, I get this. However, I also think you miss the point of the last one. I do not want an EV just to make myself feel better about my "carbon footprint". That's what liberals do. "I am doing my part! I drive an EV." Then pull into their 4 car garage attached to their 4000 sq ft home.

When EVs are practical, affordable, reliable, and have all of the bugs worked out then I MIGHT be willing to give up the sound and feel of an ICE vehicle. MIGHT.

I've talked to EV engineers. Take it for what is worth...and admittedly it ain't much!
