Along these lines, I can see AAA of the future, mobile fast charge stations as part of their road side rescue service. Imagine some high power (diesel) generator mounted to an F350, that can come along, and get you some amount of charge to get you to the next station, or home. As EV's become more popular, this will be an issue. Heck, people still run out of gas! It will no doubt be a necessary service.

The future of EVs will be hot-swappable battery packs. At some point, all or some of the battery pack component will be accessible, and swappable. That's the only thing that makes sense. It will be like propane tanks.

So out of curiosity how long would it take to charge the F150 with a standard 120 volt outlet if one was to go that route
I have also read that Ford has a patent for a gas powered charging system that could be placed in the bed of the truck to provide power should charging station not be readily available

For full extended range, charge time of up to 107 hrs(4.46days). So yeah, totally feasible...

I've been told that this won't end up happening. That the batteries in EVs will continue to evolve into more and more vehicle components to increase range. I think we are decades away from removeable battery packs that can be quickly swapped.

I’ve been very happy with our Pacifica Hybrid and our Chevy Volt. The problem with PHEVs is that people don’t understand them. I’ve heard all the arguments against in 8 years of ownership.
“I have to drive more than 50 kilometres.” Yes that’s why it has a gas engine too.
“You mean you have to put gas in it and charge the battery? What good is that?” Don’t get me started with that one.
And of course:
“It still uses gas so it’s not a green choice. I’m a progressive I don’t want to drive a gas guzzler.”
“It’s a virtue signalling. I’m a conservative I don’t want to drive an electric car.”

When EVs are practical, affordable, reliable, and have all of the bugs worked out then I MIGHT be willing to give up the sound and feel of an ICE vehicle. MIGHT.
