Not true. The costs I shared are non-subsidized. Renewables are lower cost without subsidies. Subsidies are sometimes necessary to get new technology the scale and support while they are going through their "learn cycle" (and yes, combustion engines were are still are subsidized in a variety of ways for this very reason). As I stated though, on a non-subsidized basis, renewables are cheaper which is why utilities are adopting them, even to the point of retiring non-renewable plants early.

Well, I guess we'll just have to disagree. Time will tell who is correct.

This thread derailment needs to end, it's just a couple of guys on a see-saw at this point. You're probably both right: Governments pushed to get the ball rolling but it is rolling now on it's own momentum. If it wasn't, there is no way you would see prices going down on the equipment. When it comes to subsidies and the like, companies love sticking it to the government and prices stay high.

This thread was derailed about 75 pages ago.

Every EV thread on here eventually careens over a cliff...and everything from government subsidies to solar power to "the grid can't handle EVs" comes up for discussion from all the "experts" who do nothing but post conjecture and rhetoric.

I would just like to talk about the truck. Cuz I like it and I think its a pretty nice truck...and Im thinking about buying one.

I remember the interdiction efforts the USN had during the early 80s. and the effect of a 5in 40 on those fast boats...Lots of bails in the water along with parts of fiberglass after contact.. they always seamed to think they could out run over the horizon radar////

Dont forget that oil is the base stock for most plastics and other everyday items. Someone (Exxon maybe) used to have a picture that was captioned “All the things in your house that come from oil” and it was basically everything, so we won’t see an end to oil drilling anytime soon, and frankly I’m not sure why being “an environmentalist” seems to require hating an industry that provides a significant amount of good jobs and the materials that make modern life possible.

I love my EV and (hopefully) future Lightning, but also have plenty of love for the oil and gas industry. It’s odd how everything these days has to go from nuance to I’M RIGHT AND YOURE WRONG in a matter of seconds.

Just don't expect it to do truck things.
