I do have one.
I don't pretend to be an expert regarding say the Raptor...because I don't own one!

Electric Vehicles and Solar never fails to bring a lively discussion
Right, LOL. So let us bring it back to a subject everyone enjoys: MONEY!

Now I have to refer again to the Mustang Mach E, because that is the Ford iteration that is Ford's latest , greatest and most current BEV.

This just showed up on the MME forum today, the first 5,000 mile recap by an MME owner.

I edited my original post to include Range as being excellent.
I am consistently seeing over 300 miles displayed at 100% charge and observed over 285 miles per charge in practice.

Very happy with that.

On a related note...
In 7 weeks of driving I have saved about $800 in fuel costs vs a comparable ICE vehicle (Ford Edge).
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thre...e-update.5661/

If he keeps up that 7 weeks/5000 mile schedule he will save what, about $5,900 in gas cost in a year? (52 weeks / 7= 7.4 x $800 = $5,920)
Now we are really talking about MONEY, aren't we?

So, reasonably assuming that an F150 BEV gets 1/2 the mileage of the MME, which would be on the low side, who on here would consider an F150 BEV if they were pretty sure that they would save $400 every 5,000 miles? I believe that fleet owners would jump on that.

And that does not take into consideration maintenance. No oil changes, no catch cans, no spark plugs, no transmission, no emissions test (ever) etc.

It is all about the money, and the car market will decide.

That 10% is free, and go right into an electric car. In fact, more than that 10% is free, since I'm saving $40 a month too, and now can't end up with a rate increase
You got your panels for FREE????? Lucky dawg. . if not, well, there is the added cost spread out over how many decades while they are effective.... until you have to replace them. Wish I had solar panels. Lucky folks...

On a sidenote, I was looking at the cost of panels... with my current electrical rate, it would take 23 years to break even... I'll be dead or in a home probably. lol

Also looked at getting a hybrid car way back in 2011... comparing a Prius to the actual car I bought, running the numbers for THAT situation, to break even, I had to park the Prius for 8 years and drive the **** out of the Hyundai. What. the. heck.. and yes, that was including gas/maintenance/reg/purchase/etc costs.... well, at least the Prius would be really low mileage after 8 years... LOL

Zee

I do love that Ford has a hybrid F150. Keep working it Ford!!!! cause who knows when Ram will get moving and provide some competition... which is great for all of us.!

my panels were free as well .. the company installs them for free and they get the offset on market share and the government incentives .. the contract was for 25 years and they warranty the roof and the panels.. they do all the maintenance on both as well and in the contract if anything goes wrong they would fix and replace the panels and or the roof. I was able to negotiate my rate and originally they had added a yearly multiplier but i negotiated out of the multiplier because i proved to them that my power company had not raised rates in 10 years and in some instances had lowered rates in some years so they removed my multiple and my rate was for the full 25 years .. my utility bill was .21c / kwh and i negotiated down to .15c / kwh .. for the most part i did make more power than i consumed so i was getting a credit from my electric company .. before i sold my house i was looking into which battery backup to go with ... i was all set to install a 24kwh generac generator but then decided to hold off and research battery backup instead... cleaner than the generator and could be used at night time instead of the grid and didn't need yearly maintenance

I was to say... critical of you in a post some years ago... clearly you have issues letting go.

You were in a thread acting like an expert in all things and options involved with regard to the higher trim trucks.
As usual...you didn't have much good so say about the upper trims...or their options.

And so I asked you what it is that makes you an expert given as you own an XL.
Anyway...I see nothing has changed.

Keep writing your sob stories...looks like you have company in that area...lol...
if you can find me a post with me trashing an upper model i will buy you a 2021 Lariat

You know, sometimes you wonder how long this old tech is really going to survive. But, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Compared to Mustang MME AWD:

I did get a solar panel quote on the back of my house two yrs ago. To cover just the basic electric use here on the compound. My electric bill is $150. a month. The solar panel install quote was $18,000. , $150 x 12 =$1800. x 10 of course is $18,000. So it would take me 10 yrs of break even electric bills before I saw any actual return. So the savings for me would be after 10 yrs if no maintance is involved. Could I afford to do it. Yes. But I see no savings.

Solar is on the way for me, its a no brainer for me.

* The loan payment is cheaper than the electric bill, and is just 0.9% interest
* Fixed power cost for at least 35 years, utility cost will increase for sure
* Ready for a battery, which then gives you better backup power
* Solar panels are neat
* 26% Federal tax credit
* Increased home value, without the tax burden
* Increased roof life
* Solar panels are neat
* I get to flex on my neighbors

I doubt anyone needs to told how rich or poor they are. Such a shame that that some think that somehow money equates with character.
