If your air filter was damp, that would cause a CEL. I used to do that all the time in a 1980 F150 on Ponta Vedra beach FL before all the housing went up. I sold that truck in 2018 with only one little rust hole in the cab behind the drivers door. I used salt away if I went deep and sprayed everything with it. I washed it at a spray place just off the beach each time I left. I wouldn't worry about doing the same thing with this new one. At that speed and time I would not worry about your Diff's they didn't have time to get water in them. The spray on the windshield is normal. I would almost bet the top of your engine didn't get a drop on it.

As for skids they will help and hurt because they will hold the water.

This definitely made me feel a lot better about the engine. Makes sense if water choked up the air filter and restricted the engine of air and caused a slight misfire. Now its just my battery light I'm concerned about lol, thanks for the insight!

I’m assuming you have an aftermarket air intake that is why the filter got damp?As long as you changed it to a dry one you should be good. You said you washed the undercarriage good so I would just go thru a couple of more car washes and either get the undercarriage wash or go to the quarter car wash to get as much salt off from underneath and you will be fine.

My air intake is stock, but seemed to do its job by saving my engine. I will definitely do a couple more washes. From what I've gathered as long as the engine is running I'm okay.

probably not concerning. Probably some sensor got wet and triggered it.

ask your dealer to run codes on it.

Another good way to rinse the underside: put a couple of lawn sprinklers underneath, and move them around for a couple of hours.

How about putting a wave type yard sprinkler und the truck. You will need move for best coverage. This sounds like a 6 beer project.

Just an anecdote, but I drove through a huge puddle in my old ranger once and the water caused the serpentine belt to slip which made the truck shut off and the CEL to come on. Never had an issue after that. But if you want to be really safe, rinse the truck off really well and replace any fluids and gaskets that were submerged.

Is your concern the depth of water you forded, or the fact that it was salt water?

If the latter, I live in the Midwest and for 6 months out of the year my truck lives, eats, and breathes salt water without a single wash. We’re talking everywhere - roof, tonneau, undercarriage… It’s a truck to me and I use it as such, very little rust beyond what’s common on the differential, axles, and leaf springs.

HA HA what do you think we who live in the North East do with all the road salt they use every Winter? The undercarriage turns to rust no matter how much you try to wash it out.
