Default Pics of Area 51 Paint on F-150s

I've ordered a Super Crew XLT in Area 51 w/ Carbonized Gray Metallic 2-tone accents and the XLT chrome package that is slated to be built in about 3 weeks. While I try to wait patiently, I've been scouring the web for pictures of similar color schemes and found very little related to F-150s while pictures of Area 51 on Broncos and Mavericks abound. I'll post pictures of my build when I get it. Until then, here are some images from a couple of trucks on dealership lots in my area that show the chameleon nature of Area 51. It can look very different under different lighting, and in real life it almost never looks like the renderings on the Ford Build & Price website. FWIW, I think this is the color of choice for the Bronco, but I doubt that it will catch on the same way on the F-150. We wanted something "different", so Area 51 fit the bill.

Area 51 in full sunlight. While the F-150 looks good with some colors in monotone (black, white & red, for example), I think Area 51 requires some accents to help it stand out. For example, I think a chrome grille and chrome bumpers would help this truck.

This is the same truck as above split between sun and shade. Even the part in the sun looks different (a little less baby blue) from this angle than it did from the front. I like the rich look of the color in the shade but think that dark lettering on the tailgate would help.

Here's a comparison of Area 51 (center) with Atlas Blue Metallic (left) on a cloudy day. I took this shot with the Carbonized Gray Metallic Bronco as we were deciding which blue would look better with the CGM 2-tone accents

Ok, this is not an XLT, not Area 51, and not Carbonized Gray Metallic, but is the closest match to what our build will look like of any image I could find on line. This is actually a King Ranch in Azure Blue w/ Stone Gray 2-tone accents. If our truck looks anything like this with A51 & CGM then I will be very happy.

I saw one while I was at a dealership early today. I think it looks better when it's overcast out, but that's just me.

Here's the dealership's pics of it inside:

These look unique in A51 monochromatic but I have to say as I’ve started seeing it with the 2 tone that this is not a color that I think lends itself well to that combo.

To each his own though. I personally would only want it in a monochromatic scheme with everything body color

Did you see it with black or gray 2-tone, and was the accent color on the rocker panels only or on the roof as well? I've only seen pictures of a Heritage edition with black 2-tone on rocker panels and roof (see link below) and don't like that combination at all because the black is simply too dark and the black roof just looks odd. My build will only have the accent color on the rocker panels and my hope is that the A51 has enough gray in it to be complimented by the gray 2-tone without being overwhelmed by it. Time will tell.

Here's a rendering of my build. I think the colors are generally darker in this image than they will be in real life based on what I've seen with my own eyes on dealer lots. Also, the rendering shows a painted front bumper that will actually be chrome.

Many manufacturers are releasing colors like this. See a lot of a similar color at the Honda dealer I work for. We call it the Nickleback of colors. It sells a lot, but very few people claim to like it 😆

Well, I think Ford will have trouble selling F-150s in A51 as long as their online images of it are so bad. The stock renderings of it found when you do an inventory search are all over the map from green to gray with 10 shades of blue in between. For example, the ones below are both supposedly A51. Neither is anywhere close to an accurate representation but both are used on dealer sites for A51 trucks on order.

I got a preview of my truck after finding another one on a dealers lot that has the exact same trim level and paint scheme that I have ordered (but different engine, etc.). The truck was wedged in tight between other vehicles, so it was hard to get good pictures, but I'm diggin' the A51 alot (at least on this cloudy day) and I think the chrome accents are nice. Maybe I wish that the carbonized gray accents were a bit lighter(?), but all in all, I'm liking what I see and look forward to laying eyes on my truck which is scheduled to be built the week of 3/13.

Not to go off topic, but the same thing happened with Smoked Quartz the last 2 years. The renderings online made it look black, but in actuality it is grey/blue depending on the light. I saw one on a lot and went with it, very happy with the end result.

i thought your build would be unique and not my cup of tea...now i'll admit i would never order that build but i do have to say it looks pretty good with Area 51 w/ the grey accent in Chrome...
