Default Tracking your order

I've seen numerous posts about people frustrated with the length of time our orders to be built. The thread Guide: Understanding and Tracking Your Custom Order is a must read.

I've also seen a couple of posts that mention the Order Track website https://ordertrack.app but, haven't found a Post that specifically mentions it, hence this post. I use it two or three times a day. I'm assuming it is a front end that @johnmarkilly lets you hit three different web pages all from one place:
1. Ford Vehicle Order Tracking
2. Module Build Data (As-Built)
3. Window Sticker

I really like this site and want to thank @johnmarksilly. I don't know him and never talked to him but, there is a "Donate" Button on the page and I bought dinner for him and his wife to show my appreciation for his creating and maintaining the site.

Yep, when I was waiting for mine (after getting the vin and window sticker), I used his query to follow its progress. Very helpful.

BTW, I also bought(/donated) him a couple of beers......

Opps, I forgot to add one of the coolest features. Once you use the App it saves your Order # and VIN toward the bottom under "Previous Searches". The next time all you have to do is click on your VIN.

it’s not simply a combined front-end. The site uses some backend APIs to get more information than what is available on the ford tracker. For instance: shipping method (and eventually shipping details). That’s not available on ford tracker afaik.

there are also many reports of ordertrack.app having updated information hours or days sooner than ford tracker.

all that to say: I agree, @johnmarkilly built something really cool and useful. I didn’t donate money but offered to lend him a hand maintaining the app. Haven’t heard back

Not sure I understand what you get from this site that isn't just on the Ford site? The shipping information (Convoy or Rail) along with the invoice/blend and that is just being pulled from the Window Sticker, which you have access to. The rest is just from the Ford order status site, which you also have access to. It's nice it's on one page, but once you get some of the info like Convoy or Rail once, it doesn't change.

Anyway, not knocking the work at all. Convenience is nice. I am just looking to understand what more is provided you don't already have.

1. One click to see info
2. You don't have to retype your order number or VIN it remembers it.
3. It's quick, one mouse click for the site and one click to check all three sites.

Those are three of the same thing, it's quicker, that's fine I covered that. I don't have to retype my order number at the ford site either since it's in the recent text memory in the browser.

Whatever, like I said not knocking it, just thought I was missing something and it doesn't sound like I am. I wish Ford would open up VV to API access, that would make sites like that pretty beneficial. For example, looking it up on that tracking site it just says our Mach-e has been in the shipped status for 30 days, but looking in VV I can see each step it's taken.

Maybe when Ford moves to their new tracking app they will open it up more.

Can you explain what VV is? I can no longer find a valid link to actual track my truck's shipment.

Vehicle Visibility, it's what dealers mainly use when they look up your vehicle status. It isn't perfect, and Ford has a replacement they have been trying out. But it gives a lot better detail on the actual steps of the vehicle journey that I don't know why they don't expose more on the public vehicle tracking site.

For example, my F-150 was released, shipped, and arrived at my dealer on the same day. But that makes sense given my dealer is less than 20 minutes from Dearborn Truck. But our Mach-e shipped on August 22nd and has been slowly working through the chain, and the last status update on VV from the 14th shows it had left the Kansas rail yard. But that's good stuff to know I think instead of just staring at a "Shipped" marker on the public tracking site.

That's why I say I hope there is a plan in the new iteration to make some of that a bit more public. They don't have to tell us the exact location, but saying something like, "left Kansas City on Rail heading toward Illinois transfer station" would be nice to see.

It's important to note though that since ordertrack.app is hitting some backend APIs, the creator (johnmark) throttled the site to "poll" the Ford status site periodically. You will only get updated details at a few points during the day. It only matters to those like me obsessed with pressing the refresh button! I wrote a little console app which hits the ordertrack.app API endpoint and this is the result is below. Note that the timestamp doesn't change even if I call it repeatedly. I haven't checked to see at what intervals it gets refreshed. I still use ordertrack.app multiple times per day - just want to add to the conversation!

Wholeheartedly agree with @vulnox - would be amazing for Ford to expose more status details via its site and/or public APIs. Nagging the dealer weekly for a VVR is not only annoying to the dealer, it's annoying to the customer as well!
