I've had both and like both. I would say I like the Cooper's a little better, in my opinion they are quieter and wear a little better, just my experience. When I buy my next set it will probably the Cooper's. No disappointments in either.

I had Cooper ATP on another truck.
Good wet weather traction and super quiet.
Wet weather traction went away, as will any tire, with increased wear. I feel I had wet weather traction far longer than what Duratrac offered. Duratrac barely had 40k on them and they were worn and junk. Wet weather traction went away well before that.
I pushed my luck through the winter before (going into 2019) on the Coopers but I made it work. I didn't want anybody else to drive the truck, I knew the limits. I had some rain experiences late 2019 and they weren't great but again, I knew their limit. I needed tires to get through 2019/2020 winter, except I traded the truck instead.
No tire will offer wet weather traction near end of life....I feel the Duratrac gave up too fast (ans has been confirmed with friends that love the tire for every other use). The Coopers lasted quite awhile. I don't have numbers in front of me -I'd have to see when I bough them to get the mileage off them. It was a smaller and lighter truck though.
I know you didn't ask about Duratrac, but the reference is there in case you have experience with them, or know others that do.
I loved the tires in dry and snow. Just pre-mature crap in the rain when they wore.
Another Cooper I had was a LTZ Zion (not sure if they make it any more). I liked it when I had it on the 2003 F150 extended cab long bed (6.x').
Good wet weather traction and super quiet.

A torn up tire without any back story isn't very helpful.
I'm going to guess no story because 'everything was fine'. It is so random that tires explode like that. And no manufacturer is exempt from a failure.
I'm with you, if I have a tire that shreds, I may choose not to purchase that brand again. I don't know if I'd be posting a picture and saying "I don't like them".

If, and it's a big IF, if Cooper makes the size you can use in their A/TW, I'd recommend them. I have them in 265/75/16 on my 2WD LSD Ranger, and if they had them in the larger sizes, like 315/70/17, they'd be on my 150. I've got BFG KO2's on it now, they're just alright, nothing great except for looks, not that good in snow, not that good in rain, and in mud, they're a total joke. And, they have a little hum to them, not enough to bother me.
Drove the A/TW's thru last winter, with a set of Duratracs mounted, and ready to go just in case. Never felt the slightest need to throw them on. Plus the Coopers have a 55k warranty, where the celebrated KO2's don't.

So yes, I'm anti-cooper based on personnel experience .
Toyo's are my new fav. These things never loose pressure, ride like a ****ing tank, and are LT tires. They are solid.
As far as durability and strength you can't compare these tires discussed in this thread to an LT tire(unless you get the LT tire size....).
