Default Is this normal? Picture inside.....

Took this picture inside my oil fill cap. Looks like sludge and some scraping. Is this normal, am I mistaking this for something else.

Exclamation

Dragoslav ...
See no sludge. See no scraping.

Engine? Year? Mileage? Modifications?

I think the scraping appearance is under the small stainless line?
I don't see any sludge....the coloring looks normal for for your 200,000 miles motor. No big deal.

I'd check mine for that scraping thing but I have a different motor than yours, so my visual won't be helpful.

The truck is a 2020 3.3l. Only has 15000kms on it. Can’t tell if that’s sludge or if it’s supposed to be black. The shiny spot near the bottom looks like scraping or something.

That is a machining mark where the factory ground down the parting line in the casting. Nothing to worry about.

I was waiting to make sure that was the part being asked about. If the casting was worn down from that pipe, that pipe would be done......that pipe is too weak to do that much damage (and it would be moving a whole lot).

Black isn't sludge in my opinion. If somebody askes "is this sludge" I would think they were scooping it up with a spoon, like pudding. Mmmm, pudding!

Looks perfectly fine. Black is just a casted part that hasn’t been machined.
