Before spending time with regearing, I'd recommend put a tuner on it. It'll be less expensive and WAY faster, and it may surprise you how much a tune can to do even a N/A engine.

Tuner is on my list. It can only do so much, however, and can’t make up for powerband inefficiencies where the engine is simply not operating within its peak torque range due to gear ratio/wheel diameter mismatches for the intended operating spectrum. Since I’m also planning a Truetrac install, that’s when I’ll also put in the optimum gear ratio for my application.

I wanted to add closure to this thread, at least for me. After letting go of the 2011, I've been lamenting the relative sluggishness of my now daily driver 2013 so I decided to splurge on a Pedal Commander when a deal came up for a brand new one at $240 shipped.

O... M... G.

It is a completely different animal altogether now. Any of the "performance" presets (City, Sport, Sport+") breaks traction effortlessly of my 30" Nitto G2's, with Sport+ almost absurdly uncontrollable. I just can't believe how much raw power was truly lying dormant under the Ford fly-by-wire system for the 6.2; the stock programming in no way hints at this unrealized performance, even at WOT.

As far as I know, this little gadget simply controls the throttle opening and rate, so the timing and fuel delivery maps are not directly touched. Posts on the Raptor forums suggested that the PC18 provides more noticeable seat-of-the-pants kick than just a tuner would accomplish, and now I'm a believer.

My dilemna going forward is that this bugger reveals a serious traction issue, even with the tall 3.55's. I had already purchased a complete low-mileage 2014 Raptor front axle (primarily to get the Torsen) for an eventual axle swap when I do the ICON Stage 2 suspension upgrade and 33's, but now I'm not sure if I should need its lower 4.10 gearing (which would require regearing the rear), especially when I drop on a Whipple.

As it stands now, the Pedal Commander has made my 4WD 2013 leaps and bounds more fun than the 2WD 2011; it makes me wonder, however, how much more potential performance the 2WD could have offered with this same device installed...

It’s the stock torque management program, it stinks and limits power. Even under WOT the throttle body will not open past 3/4 application for 4 full seconds of full pedal application. The 6.2 is nannied in this regard.

Presumably, all else being the same, the lighter 2wd would benefit more.

Unless tuned the Nannies are on the 6.2 until 3500 RPM. After you hit that it was like passing gear. My 5* tunes got rid of that.
