Gotta make a choice, do you need the full size rear seat or a longer bed. They do make a few Crew cabs with 6.5' beds, but now you're talking over a foot longer wheel base and overall length compared to a standard cab with an 8' bed. Might as well drive a bus. I have driven a bus and big trucks in the past and it isn't a lot harder to park and maneuver them than a 20' long pickup.
The 5.5' bed is standard on Supercrews and with the same overall length as a regular cab 8' or Supercab 6.5' bed is a good compromise.

I'm confused. There are objects that fit in a 5.5' bed? Are those items short people buy or something?

The last three columns are as follows: the last column is bed width and tailgate. The second to last column is bed width at the cab and the third to last column is the bed length. I know this is an older post but this information has helped me greatly.
