I'm using my Pioneer stereo, it has a camera input on the back. Had the option to buy a monitor for another $15, so it'd still be an under $50 mod

Gotcha. It looks nice and discreet there. Do you know the link where you got it?

Just an FYI, I'm Running a DR-650GW 2 channel Dashcam. I have the rear camera mounted on the rear window. It works pretty well, but the tailgate does block any view of right behind the truck (5ft out or so).

I just hooked it up to the reverse light so the camera only powers on when the truck is in reverse.

I could've easily wired it into something hot, but decided not to. Figured if the camera was always running/hot it'd probably die pretty quick. That was just my thought. I'm not sure I've personally needed to view it when I'm not in reverse, but I could imagine where that would be important in certain situations.

Link was good. Thank you for this. I really only need a camera for my wife. I'm good with mirrors only (I'm a coach and drive a school bus so it's no biggie). I just can't justify dropping $500+ for an oem unit.

Same profession for me. I just enjoy parking backwards and use it really often now.

Also, I'm sick of driving a bus lol

While I'm good with my mirrors, backup cameras are quite awesome when you back up to a trailer as much as I do!

The perk if having mine where it is is that I can see my hitch ball when I have it attached as well. I've only had to pull a trailer once with this truck so far, but that was before I installed the camera.

But I can imagine this would save a ton of time. If I hooked up a trailer often, I'd splice the camera into a hot wire so I can see it even when going forward.
