Default clunk when turning left

Well folks this may seem like a strange issue but I am really hoping someone here can help me figure out what an annoying issue is on my 2011 2-WD F-150 XL (70,000miles) has been for quite some time now. Some time ago I started noticing a "clunk" that normally only occurs when I make a left turn and usually only if I am making a left turn while going over a bump like you would find on side streets in town. You can turn left in a smooth parking lot and not really notice it all. Once in a while it seems to make the sound if you go over a bump or two on a side street without turning but again, mostly when turning left and even at that it doesn't do it all the time. If you have the truck in park and turn the steering wheel all the way left or right it will not make the noise and if you try shaking the truck side to side or up and down it won't do it either, just when moving while turning. Another frustrating aspect of this is that even with the windows down it is hard to say where exactly the noise is coming from, front or rear. I've done some research online and have found several possibilities but no symptoms that seem to quite match my issue. One thing I am finding is that a "clunk" under later model F-150s seems to be a somewhat common problem. If it isn't something that I need to worry about I will just continue to live with as I have for the last year or so. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or help!

I work with a lady whose husband has been a Ford mechanic for around 40 years so I called him yesterday evening and he wasn't really sure but he suggested looking for a broken coil spring or stabilizer end links so once again I crawled around under the truck with my flashlight but couldn't find anything that appeared to be broken or cracked. I have checked for broken leaf springs and looked the struts over for signs of leaking but nothing jumps out at me. After I posted my thread I did come across a post from someone else a few months ago and this person seemed to be having very similar issues so I sent him a private message to which he replied and said he hasn't really be able to figure it out either. I guess I may just have to keep driving it and continue to ignore and learn to live with it or wait until finally something really gives way and then the problem is obvious. Sure is a frustrating issue.

If you've found nothing yet, my last guess would be a ball joint on the lower control arm.

Default No word?

I’ve got the same issue but when turning right...
it’s the worst when turning right and all weight goes to left really slowly...
whole front end suspension is new and feels tight and solid when driving it and it was happening before I did all the suspension... it feels like it coming from right under the seat... but I couldn’t find anything!!
like u guys said... so annoying...

nobody figured anything out?

After many months of dealing with the issue mine went away and has never returned. Probably been a year or more, actually forgot about it until I received the email with the notification about your post. I believe the one other person I messaged on here said his quit doing it after some time as well. Sorry I cannot be of any help.

I've seen a couple reports of people's chairs making a noise, like they were coming loose.

No I feel it in the steering wheel...
checking all bolts and using chassis ear tool in different spots...
weird thing is that it only happens after car has been sitting overnight and happens only a couple of times them goes away for driving...

The picture of the leaf spring isolater pad on rock auto is confusing cause I can’t find a part that looks like that on the leaf springs.. anyone have a pic of where it is on 07 F-150 rwd 4.6l?

Not my photo. Found on google and added text

Mine used to do the same thing. It’s a metal on metal contact that occurs when the wheel is fully turned and suspension is compressed. So it usually happens when turning at speed or turning into or out of parking lots.

next time it happens, put truck in park, set ebrake, turn wheel so you can see behind the front pass side rotor. You should be able to see a small area of shiny metal or at least a spot that is very noticeable.
