Cut mine just after the muffler. Sound changed SIGNIFICANTLY...louder and deeper.

Had my 14" Magnaflow installed this morning. I went a step further and went with a tip. The look of no tail pipe and the sound is just what I was after. Sorry, no vids. I tried to take some and none of them pick up the sound.

Nice man. Exactly what I plan on doing. How long is the tip you had put on?

I believe it is 10" long. I'd have to measure to be sure.

this is a great idea, but I hate seeing the stupid spare tire heat shield. but even with the dump in the pic above I'd be worried about the heat around the spare.

It dissipates quickly and doesn't hurt the spare. My last truck didn't have a heat shield and I never had any issues with the spare getting too hot or damaged.

I imagine the shield on my new one will protect it even more.

Im assuming by your login name that you have an Ecoboost? Were the turbos louder? Any other noticable differences? Is it loud in the cab?

Im about to do this to mine.. very tempting

Just cut my tips off, which took all of 30 seconds per side with sawsall.Absolutely no change in sound and the back looks cleaner
I never really warmed up to the duel exhaust tips coming out the back under the bumper
I tried to, but always looked aftermarket to me
Dodge, I must say has it right with the cut out in the bumper to fit the exhaust tip contour.
The rear looks cleaner. Should have done it a long time ago.
BTW, the only thing that looks worse than the under bumper exit is the angled Texas Longhorn look with the tips coming out each side. JMO

I have never measured the exhaust temp coming from the tail pipe, but would imagine it's pretty hot. I guess when driving it's not an issue, but stuck in traffic on a hot day I would be concerned about what that exhaust was cooking. My other concern is if you ever got stuck in deep snow, could carbon monoxide become an issue?
