Reminds me that prez of camper/rv store where I ordered my ARE Z-series mentioned that ARE caps incorporate thicker (reinforced?) fiberglass to better support an optional roof rack (which I didn't order). He said a rack can be added later with same structural results due to ARE's design...

There are no structural differences between caps with or without them.

But the canopy doesn't look too bad on your truck.

I thought that too, it appeared to be slightly lighter but as you move around the truck and change angles it all falls in. I think because the angles of the canopy are slightly different than the body of the truck. i.e. From fender to door is quite a bit different shade because of the light reflection. Once the in full sun I'll take another shot.
We also got one on my brothers Tri-Coat white... It's VERY off, almost looks flat white on the truck. To top it off when they installed my brothers they pointed out there was a stress crack and that they have to send it back to LEER for warranty. WARRANTY??? More like give me a new one!! We haven't even had it on our vehicle, how can it be called warranty? When I asked if I can return it they said no, we can't return it to LEER.. Basically I said I don't give a crap if you can or not, I didn't buy it direct form LEER I bought it from you!

FYI That Tri coat paint is a bitch to match & I had the same problem. I was told by the painter that Ford used different base coat tints of the white for the first stage depending on when the truck was produced and there are three UG paint codes shown. Mine was terribly off when it arrived and I ended up leaving the gas cap with them for the match, now it is nearly perfect and was painted twice.
On the stress crack, I would not accept a repair either I would want new shell, be sure to take a photo of the serial # tag on the left just inside the door so they don't repair and send you the same one and try telling you it is a new one.
