Sweet. I was gonna use a small key ring like that too but the key was sticking out a bit and wasnt as mobile (stiff?) as the one I used.
I hope that makes sense. Lol

Then this whole thread wouldn't really apply to you because it's exclusively to combine the two into one. THAT SAID... I've been known to leave mine running in the field to warm up occasionally and I can simply unlock it with the door button code. Still not smart to leave it running unattended but I'm sure we've all done it from time to time.

YEAH IT WAS JUST MY 2 CENTS. MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION OF THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING ABLE TO SPERATE THE KEY AND THE FOB.

I could use some advice!
2011 Scab 4X4 XLT EB.
Got my flip key, programmed the remote fine, but having trouble with the key.
I have followed the instructions to the letter umpteen times!
One thing, instructions say I'm supposed to get acknowledgment from the security light.
Trouble is, I cannot find said light.
It is certainly not where its been in my last 4 trucks.
I have checked the manual, it doesn't say where to find it.
Can't see anything blinking when I'm programming.
Have googled it, nobody seems to know.
Anyone please, where is this light of mystery!!!!!!

Mine is in between the speedo and tach in my 10. Try starting up the truck and when it lights all the lights up to do a diagnostic look to see if you can find the little key symbol. Also, just go out at night and lock the truck, look for the red flashing key.

As much as I hate to agree with a dude that uses all caps, i have to agree. Key and fab all in one isnt an ideal situation for me, crappy remote range beside the point. I can see the advantage for reducing pocket clutter however, but I would be much more open to the idea if it was a push button start situation where u really dont need the key at all I guess. Until then I prefer my stand alone key and stand alone aftermarket fab with 100X the range of stock.

I know it's a concenience thing but can't you use the key pad on the drivers door. I often lock my door with the engine running and use the key pad on the door.

I would like to see Ford develop a proximity switch that would unlock the door(s) remotely when you are within a specified distance from it with a FOB in your pocket.

I wouldn't mind that option, provided it can be turned off... just because it would be a gold mine for scumbags trying door handles as soon as someone leaves their car.

I'd like to see a remote start option myself, where the vehicle can be left running, but the key taken out, and if someone tries to shift it out of park or tap the brake pedal, the vehicle shuts off.
