Does your screen actually turn all the way off after you've locked the vehicle? There shouldn't be any faint hint of a slight "back-lit" on the screen whatsoever (easier to see this effect at night). Newer APIM's with Sync >3.0 typically have firmware which causes screen power issues that will eventually drain your battery because the screen remains always-on.

I read about this and was quite concerned when I received my APIM and it was a later dated unit. But there have been no issues with this so far. I have looked at it in the garage with all lights off and there is no light leak. I open or unlock the door and the screen turns the dark blue (back-lit) color and then goes to the raptor screen. I will then turn the truck off and open/close the door and the screen goes completely off. I will say this APIM does not have the elliptical cut outs on the metal at the GPS connector and it did have 2 (black and grey) USB connector ports. So it very much looks like an older model APIM with a newer manufactured date.

I have an older one, I think it was 2016. I have seen the screen partly on like this a couple times. It does not happen frequently, but I will be watching it. For me, probably related to timing of shutting the engine off and opening/closing doors, since the vehicle tries to start up the radio early when doors open.

Hi all - one more observation, when using Sync 3 - Apple Car Play, I would recommend using a good lightning cable. I was using older cables and because of it, my phone would randomly disconnect. Confirmed that it was an issue with the cable not the connector, USB port or my Sync 3 apim / settings.

Is there any way to set the default volume for prompts and phone calls? Mine seems to default to 11 which is not nearly loud enough. I raise it every time, but it doesn't stay. I'm on Sync 3.4 and I've looked through all of the menus but can't find anything. I didn't know if there was a way to set it in Forscan that I wasn't familiar with.

I'm assuming you set the volume WHILE the prompt/call was in progress, yes? Did this work properly before you updated to 3.4?

Yes, I've increased it while the call was in progress or a prompt was playing, but once it finishes, it goes back to where it started. It has definitely been this way since Sync 3.0. I believe it was the same with MFT.

Hmm. My MFT properly saves the volumes that I set, so this appears to be a problem specific to your vehicle and not Sync 3...

Thanks! I wasn't sure if just changing them was supposed to set it or not. Since I know now that it's supposed to, I'll do some more digging.

I'm tracking all these issues to be on the lookout for when I do my own Sync 3 conversion, which I'm trying to accomplish tomorrow or the weekend. I'm retrofitting PowerScope mirrors at the same time since I'll have the dash apart, hence the delay in getting Sync 3 installed...
