That puts the inner edge .5" further towards the control arm than stock. It looks like there's maybe an inch to spare from what I can see. That's pretty close. Has anyone run eagle alloy 18 inch model 079's without issue? I hate the stock 265/70/17's and will run 275/70/18 (11" width) or 295/65/18 (11.5") Duratracs if I can get away with it. Diameter ends up at 33".

Any advice, sorely needed. Thanks!

Doc

Any more feedback on this? I'm planning the same setup and was told I'd have no worries. I'm looking at 18x9's, 6" backspace with 295/65/18's. This would move them in 1/2" and out 1" as compared to the factory rims, plus I'd have a larger tire. Setup will be 2wd with Blistein's.

My truck stockers are 275/60 R18s. Basically 31". So those of you with FX4 with 2" leveling kit really running 35s? I do realize having the correct backspace on the wheels makes all the difference but the sales guy said it didn't matter. Then again 33s aren't all that bad. I have no doubt the sales guy may be wrong but I figure his experience should count for something.
I called Pro Comp (Owned by 4WheelParts BTW) when I was tire/wheel shopping because of an add I saw in Four Wheeler Magazine with a new Red F-150 Screw that was leveled with 35x12.50-20s Xtreme AT on AFTERMARKET wheels with about a +20 offset I think.

They told me they have a testing area where they beat on these set ups to make sure they dont take a fender out... They say you need at least 18" wheels with 4 1/2 -- 5 1/2 inches of backspacing to run 35x12.50 with their 2" spacer kit.

I am running the 295/60-20 (34.4x12.30) Terra Grapplers on +18 Method Wheels with no issues. Mine is leveled 2" with Icon Coilovers. It looks good IMO.

Hope this helps!

Actually no more feedback, but after spending several hours searching old threads, I've seen that a number of people are running 6" backspacing, particularly to deal with wider tires. Looking at the inner edge of the rim, the stock is around 1" from the control arm. A half inch closer probably doesn't bother anything. Now, I'm not sure the superwide tires you'll be running on your 9's will fit without rubbing at full lock. I hope to run 11.5"wide/33.1" diameter tires and avoid rubbing. That's another story. Keep me posted.

Cheers,
Doc

I don't know if this will help you guys or not but I thought I would post my set up and my thoughts on a couple of this situations with what I have ran into and where I am now.

I have 2010 F150 Screw 4x4 with a 2" HBS level kit and I am running 285/70/17 Kumho on Moto Metal 951 with no rubbing issues. At full chock the tire is about a half an inch from the front bumper valance. I had 325/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on my rims Before I got the Kumho's and had MAJOR rubbing issues everywhere!! My truck sits 41 and half inches from ground to the bottom of the wheel well all the way around right now. As far as backspacing on the rims goes anything over 5" you are going to have to do some shaving. 4.75 backspacing is pretty safe as long as your not going monster on the tires. 315/50 or 55/20 on a 4.75 backspacing with a 2" level kit will work. It will rub at full chock on the front bumper valance requiring some minor shaving. If you go with a 2.5" level and 1.5" rear blocks you will gain a little but it will rub with 325's but 305 and 315 should be ok.

Hope this helps a little guys.... Here is a couple of pic's of my set up for reference. Last pic is with the Nitto's

Helps allot, thanks! Also good info 2010Builder! I know Pro Comp and 4WPW are related and the fugger wanted to charge $220 for the PC 2" spacers when I can get them for less than $180 but I will most likely go with 2.5" Rough Country and give them ***** for quoting me chump status price!

I really like the stock ride feel and wanted to know how your Icons feel?

Found an awesome wheel guide:

Dont know if anyone else has covered this but 6" BDS lift will fit 37's. I have -12 offset wheels and had to cut some plastic behind bumper and wheel well, with more backspacing it does not require cutting.

1) 2010 4wd
2) 295/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers M/T
3) XD Series 17x9 4.5 backspace -12 offset
4) 2" Autospring front 1" Stacked block rear
5) Need to trim front valance about an inch
6) Rims from Discount $825 mounted, Tires 4wheelonline $1097
7) Tires do have a nice sound to them but nothing the flowmaster and radio cant over come. When I roll to a stop it does have a small but noticeable vibration.
(Update) there was a lot more trimming then mentioned. Need to trim back of wheel well started at the screw and went up 3" then across.
As for tire pressure I'm at 40 psi but the truck still seems to bounce around. Taken it in to get a TSB done for the AdvanceTrac icon illuminating on certain turns I make a little faster then normal.

Just stock for now so these are a before set. I like a lot of your alls posts, and I definitely want the leveling kit but I don't want the bed to sag if I tow a boat or throw the quad in it.

My girls more a street machine with her heart in the mud so I want mean tires but nothing thats going to require a third mortgage to buy gas. Suggestions are welcomed

ok....i have a 2009 supercrew 2wd and am installing the roughcountry 2.5" leveling kit and the rear 1" blocks.....

I was quoted today by a local dealer that to put the chrome kmc monsters 20 X 9.5 with 18mm backspacing, i can only go with a 295.60.20 tire for the nitto trail grapplers.....is this true? i dont want the tire to stick out excessively but i dont want it to be flush either.

i wanted to go with a 33 X 12.50..........

what do you guys think?

anyone have pics of the set-up?
