Well folks, here's proof that Ford has the ability to deliver on those gauges and apps we've been talkin about...they are doing it for the 2013 Mustang.

Now this begs the question, will Ford be able to retrofit this to existing trucks with a software update?

Wow! That is too cool and an incredible tease. The background looks just like the current info screens. I wonder if its real or Photoshop'd. I think Ford is probably "able" to do the retrofit, question is will they? I kind of doubt it. Guess I'm stuck with Torque for now (which is very nice, just not OE).

To those posters that like darkened gauges at night, Saab used to have a button on the dash labeled "Dark Panel" that, when pressed, shut off every single light, gauge, and dial on the dash. You'd hit it and watch the tach and speedo drop to zero and go dark. Did just what it said - made everything dark. It was kind of eerie until you got used to it, but absolutely great on dark snowy nights. Beat the heck out of dimming the dash lights. I wish car manufacturers these days had the foresight to include stuff like that.

HA! You and the rest of us man! Just the other day, like a dumbass, I left my lights on. Came back to the park-n-ride after work and saw the tail lights on and said "Oh no f'in way..." Sure enough. What was really crappy was that I thought our trucks had this new system that would shut things off to protect the battery. Turns out...THEY DONT TURN OFF THE HEADLIGHTS. Sure, they'll **** you off and shut off the radio while you are waxing your truck, but I'll be damned if they do something useful like turn of the god damned lights.

Anyways, when I got her boosted and running, I had a check engine light. Had no idea why, but assumed it was the voltage. Would have been nice to have the gauge there to confirm that it was the voltage. Took several days / cycles of turning the truck on/off to clear the light. This was a missed opportunity for Ford. WE NEED OUR FARGIN VOLTAGE GAUGES BACK FORD!!!

Wow, I don't understand why you guys want a volt gauge so bad. In the past they didn't do anything anyways, it was just an "idiot light" connected to a gauge. If it had more than 12 volts it was at the middle, the second it went below it would drop to red. so to save costs they got rid of it, and just left the battery light on the cluster.

Bisonium, low voltage wont light the check engine light...

I can say I personally want a voltage meter because if is a proper functioning one, I can tell when I'm ok to keep using battery powered items without having to waste gas and keeping the engine running. I disagree that the gauges are as dumb as you say, proof of that lies i the above pictures of the guy with the '10 model that gives you an explicit voltage reading - not just a simple warning light. How the heck is that a dumb gauge?

Second, with regard to the check engine light, you are misinformed. My service manager is the one who told me that if the computer detected a voltage problem (e.g. low voltage) that it would throw the light. And he is the one that told me after several ignition cycles, the light would clear. Sure enough, as he said...it cleared.

Sorry bro, gotta side with the guy working at Ford on this one. And I still want a voltage meter.

Never said it was dumb to have one...you must be confused with what I meant by "idiot light" it is a common term that basically lights up when something is going wrong.

Show me the code for "low voltage" and please supply what code your truck was throwing to turn on the check engine light

Ha! Sorry man, things get lost in translation over email and forums sometimes. I wish I had that code to give you man, I never took the truck in to plug it in, I just spoke with the service manager. If the light didn't go off, my next step was to take it in...
