Default Winch in bed?

I'm thinking of installing a winch to the front of the box (cab side) to help pull my snowmobile up a set of ramps when I can't drive it up. Sleds' don't weigh much (~500lbs) so a small winch mounted higher on the box would work.

Wondering if anyone has installed a winch in the same location or offer any mounting advice.
cheers

have you considered carpet? is easy to push if you use carpet in the ramp, like with boats and jetskis.
check this idea of ramp:" http://www.sledswap.com/class/i/30657/i.html

The front of the box can't take anything pulling on it. It will bend. I winch a jet ski into my bed a Few times a year. I made a plate that bolts to the front two box bolts and then the winch on top of that. Basically welded a pipe on a base plate, drilled two holes in the base plate and used the trucks front box bed bolts to hold it down. It works well.

I want to add it partly for me (when the sled doesnt want to start or there is little traction on the ground) and also for my old man, so he can get his quad and sled up the ramp easier. Thanks for the suggestion though!

That's what I was thinking actually. Using a plate and the box bolts will probably be the way I go. cheers

How about a little different idea. I have a cheap Harbor Freight winch I use to load stuff on a trailer or to pull a bush or two out of the ground. It has a mount that hooks up the ball on my hitch. I was going to put two pulleys in my bed. One will be on the tail gate end to bring the cable over into the bed. The next I was going to make a bed mount to hook to a bed bolt or for lighter stuff the tie down hooks on the side. Run the cable over the one at the tail gate end around the other in the front of the bed and this should pull your sled or 4 wheelers into the bed pretty easy. I hope you understand what I mean. In my mind it works like a champ
