6" duals coming out the back of the truck? I guess everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. But having 2 cylinders the size of coffee cans sticking out the back of a truck would look a little wack no matter how much it was lifted. Thats my opinion. Might look good to have 6" stacks if your willing to cut the holes in your bed though.
The standard truck exhaust tip is 18-24" long and 3-3.5" in diameter.

I have a 2010 5.4 with true duals, and an x pipe. It sounds awesome, so I won't say anymore about that. Performance change? I didn't notice any, mpg, low end, or otherwise.
I do want to talk about the warranty issue though. As far as I know (and I am no exhaust mech, just a regular dude), the cats are after each header, so having true dual exhaust doesn't void squat. Just leave the cats on each of the headers.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here but going true dual should have no affect on the warranty. I have never had a y pipe, but can't imagine it sounding better than the set up I have. I couldn't be more satisfied with my exhaust. 45 degree out by the way. 2.5 inch pipes, 3.5 inch chrome tips.
