I may not have got the harnesses I needed this weekend but I am getting some little things wrapped up. I got the SD brake booster/master cylinder installed along with the SD ABS module modified and installed. I even got the air box moved forward to compensate for the Air Raid throttle body spacer I'm getting next week. I'm not sure if throttle body spacers really do much, but it will definitely get an electrical connection out from under the cowl and in a much safer location.

Oh and somehow the hood closes with all of that shoved in that small area! For my next trick I'll find a way to get a radiator overflow tank somewhere in there as well

Lol, I don't think I am crazy enough. You have made it this far so don't quit now, hope to hear this thing run soon.

The gauge cluster brackets are made and I mounted the column to make sure it was centered. I'm really liking how it's turning out so far. I'm going to make the top section out of some sheet metal this next week.

It almost feels like congratulating someone on a botched vasectomy at this point....

I'm still trying to hunt down the right engine bay and dash harness.... the one that I waited 2 FREAKING WEEKS for was out of a 2007 2WD F-450.... so I'm a bit fed up with it right now. Please refer back to the post of ONLY attempting this if you have a COMPLETE donor vehicle IN YOUR POSESSION AT THE TIME OF THE SWAP.

that being said I'm leaving tomorrow for another Army course and will be gone for 6 weeks. I'm hoping to come home to a box with harnesses and the proper PCM waiting for me....

I've got 5 more weeks until I get home and get to start working on my pickup again so I'm trying to get a lot of research done while I'm gone. Here are a few things I've figured out.

I will end up having to buy a new dash harness. After looking for MONTHS all of the gas lariat dashes are either crushed or cut up. I'm also going to buy a new chassis harness if the price isn't ridiculous.

the truck will need geared. Considering I have to get a custom tune done, I don't want it to be refreshed. The factory gears are 3.31 and the factory V10 gears are 4.10. You mix that with the 35s it has now and the 37s that I want, I need to just do this before I get it tuned. The plan is to run 4.88s and add a limited slip to the front axle.

this truck is going to be my new tow rig and I want to have the Duper Duty style tow mirrors on it. I'll have all the wiring in it so why not? I found out the actual Super Duty mirrors went bolt up so I will have to find a set from the 13-14 F-150s with the tow mirrors. I know the older ones had a tow mirror option but I honestly can't stand how they look.

the moral of this story continues to be NEVER do this swap. No matter how awesome I claim it is once it is done it is not worth it. I'd more than likely sell you this thing for what this thing costs in parts....

Default Tow Mirrors/ Gearing

I bet you’ll find some tow mirrors you like at 1A Auto .com.. they have power folding ones that have side blinker lights... pretty dope.

for the gearing, 4.88 seems a tad high because once you get up to speed on the highway your RPMs will be a high, no? Isn’t the point of a V10 the power? Thus, less of a need for a high gear ratio?
I might be totally off base, but I know in the F-150 threads on re-gearing, guys with the 5.4 and 35s like the 4.10s. With a V10/37s I’d assume that around a 4.10 would be better than a 4.88. Then again, I don’t tow enough to know.
