I am so happy that I pulled out all of the F-150 wiring behind the dash and in the cab. Everything is so much simpler to figure out and I really think it will help me finish this thing. Here's what's gone on since yesterday.
I got my new brake booster, but since I'm hooking up the factory tow package (and the junkyard one wasn't from one with a tow package) I am missing the brake pressure sensor for the booster..... and that thing is $160 at the local part store..... so there's that.
I was able to get the 2WD position sensor to work again and clear the code, but now the shift motor seems to be toast and that's $200....... so there's that.
I attempted to go to the local junkyard to pull the last few remaining parts (some missing, some broken from disassembly) and they are currently closed to the public. There's another one that I'm going to check with tomorrow to see if I can get in there as there are a LOT of odd things that I need and don't want to pay for someone to pull them for me.
I seem to have misplaced my FORScan and that is irritating as I'd really like to be able to pull the codes on this thing as I continue to get things hooked up, but hopefully I will stumble into it as I get things reorganized around the shop.
Tomorrow the hope is that I can get into the other junkyard and get the following parts.
1. Newer front unit bearings.
2. Brake pressure sensor
3. Windshield washer tank (need to patch mine since I had to cut a hole in it)
4. Seat belts (the SD has a different sensor in them and throwing codes because of it)
5. Misc bolts and nuts needed to finish bolting down the body..... I may have lost a few in the tear down.
Before I get some hate on the newer unit bearings for the front. I want to be able to plug them in before I fork out that much money for new ones. I want to make sure I can clear the ABS codes with them and not blow $400
If all goes well though I may be out taking this for a test drive tomorrow!!
Not going good enough to drive today, but making progress. The parts I really need had to be ordered and will hopefully be here Wednesday. Wrapping up a lot of loose ends though. Possibly popping the bed off Monday or Tuesday if I can get enough done!
Going to be a fab heavy kind of day today! The plan is to get the last rear seat bracket built and installed and to get this under the bed and back together. Hoping my brake parts and 4wd shift motor show up tomorrow so that I can test drive it this week!!
Just read through this entire build and i have to say how impressed i am.
Cant wait to keep following to see the end that is now very much in sight.
I'm kind of jealous of you in a way. There are a lot of builds I wish I could have binge watched/read (AWD 4 rotor RX7, K24 swapped smart car, TT V10 swapped explorer (oh wait, that last one is a future build for me!)) instead of getting strung along throughout the journey/heartache!
No brake parts, but I did finish the gooseneck hitch and the brackets for the newer back seats. Hopefully my parts get here tomorrow though. Tike to mount some factory subs in the mean time and get them prewired!
That just sucks!!! This is just painful to read. Can't imagine what you are going through. Every time I see a new post on this thread I keep hoping for some good news and that it's finished. Really really hoping for a successful outcome.
