A wise man once said that it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I killed my rack and pinion. I didn't pay attention to the clearance between the oil pan and the pressure hose in the rack and It was touching. Not enough to create a big problem in the beginning but it touched. Going to get the rack dropped today to see if it's that or the PS hose. I'm hoping it's the hose as that would be a simple fix/modification.

I am however kind of sold on this idea of doing the SAS and 10.5 swap on this. I'd hate to drop all the money into gears into these axles and have to find ALL the weaknesses of the front end the hard way. I know of the lower A arm issues and holding a Dana 60 axle shaft next to a IFS half shaft really puts things into perspective. The one good thing is that I can get this fixed and the truck back onto the road now! That is really needed as I need to get my CNC plasma table up and running to make all the SAS brackets.

Thank you guys for riding this emotional roller coaster with me!

You can really see where the rack was hitting in this picture. Funny thing is on the V8 there is nothing above the rack!

It appears as all I'm going to need to do is get rid of the curve on top with a 90 degree fitting, shorten/flair the steel line and reinstall. Talk about a major hurdle being avoided......

But still....... Really excited about the future SAS/link swap!

The truck is back together and working! I'll try getting better pics of it today, but it is definitely a ticking time bomb. They don't make a 11-1.25mm 90° hydraulic fitting and I really need this for a permanent fix. I was able to put a slight bend in the line and do some "adjusting" on the oil pan, but it's still touching.

Hopefully this holds until I can start cutting the suspension out!

Also I just got a gopro 9 with a lot of attachments. Any videos of the truck you guys would like to see this week of it?

What I've noticed is that the IMRC actuator is on the front of the V10 intake vs on the back on the V8. I didn't know that. Otherwise it's just like the V8 from the front.

It's great news for now. I'm just hoping this patch can hold together long enough for me to get the Dana 60 in it. The options to make this rack work are expensive and I'm hoping I can just get it to the summer this way.

But I am SO HAPPY it's back together. I can't wait to see how it does with the 4.88s. Next big project is figuring out my coolant issues.

This should help with the suspension swap! This week I'm finishing the install on a 2k bridge crane for the shop. Now my new plasma cutter needs to get here!

Door panels are ready to go in. Hoping I have some time to work on it this weekend, but at least some progress has been happening. The seams aren't as good as I hoped, but all in all it looks good AND will be a lot better than having no door panel at all.
