That's good, you'd hate to take it apart again.

It's a shame you had to let it go, was a really nice truck but at least you ended up with something you really like!

Replaced my tailgate Ford emblem for the second time. First one made it from 08 till 2014 when the blue started washing out very slowly. Replaced both in 2014. They’re oem and I was sent one 3D style for the front and one original laminated style for the tailgate.

It was perfect and blue a week ago. It didn’t slowly start to lose color like the first. Went from blue to all chrome like that. I think the super cold temps cracked the laminate, salt water got in and washed it out.

just put on a new one. It’s the 3D style and will outlast the truck.

That's weird, both of mine are original and not faded at all, but I supposed it depends on the way you park if your towards to sun or not.

*EDIT* These photos was with 152k miles
I replaced the rear diff fluid yesterday hoping to fix a shudder and a really weird sound I had, I made a thread about it but no one responded. Anyway, it seems the guy who owned the truck before me always kept up his maintenance, which I kinda figured because it was in good shape. The oil was a nice bronze color. But there was so black buildup on the back of the cover and probably inside a bit. My guess is that it's from the friction modifier or something maybe cheap oil who knows. I put Royal Purple 75w140 and 4oz of ford friction modifier. it took all three quarts and was just under the fill plug so I left it at that because my lifted truck tilts the axle back a bit to compensate. Went and did figure eights for 10 minutes today to try and "degunk" the clutch packs to stop the shuddering, it seemed that it got better after about five minutes so I hope it fixed that another sound that I'm pretty sure was the clutch packs catching because they had gunk in them and the fluid wasn't lubricating enough to let them slip. Here are the photos of the oil and cover.

What year is your truck? 04-05 F150’s have an older emblem that’s really flat and seems like one printed piece. They updated the emblems for 06. They looked better but the laminate failed on them after a while. They updated them again to a 3 piece design in 2014 that’s not prone to fail.

Yeah, your emblems won’t have any issues at all. The 06-13 ones, it didn’t matter how much sun they got, how cold they got, they just all failed over time.

Will the new 2014 emblem fit on the 2006 trucks? The laminate is chipping and the paint is fading on both front and rear.

Which part number did you get? CL3Z-8213-D (works in both locations), CL3Z-8213-A (grill), or AA8Z-9942528-A (tailgate) (the last two are for 2006+)

Yes they will. That’s what’s on my truck. Just look for “3d” or “3 piece” design. They have the same pins that like up wth the holes in your tailgate and grille.

xxxx528–A is what I just installed on my tailgate. has three pins and 3m tape.

on the grille, it’s the same 3D style, but has self tapping nuts. I installed that one in 2014 and don’t recall the part number.
