It’s the junk, cheap no name Amazon leds that sometimes cause radio interference and weird issues. It’s not their brightness. The sylvania ones are nice, I use them in my lows, with sealights in my highs and fogs. The sylvanias will not cause any issues.

Are there more problems when leds are put into interior and/or tail/brake lights? Seem to recall lots of threads about issues after installing leds, but don’t know/remember the specifics.

I honestly do believe it’s just installing cheap leds anywhere. The nicer ones don’t seem to have any issues.

it’s the no name, made in China, cheap Amazon stuff really.

On my 2008, I swapped every single interior and exterior bulb to led. Never had an issue. On my 2017, I swapped all external (all internal are factory led) bulbs to led as well. Also no issues.

My upper LED bulbs do high and low beams and always thought a single bulb did both. What are sealights?

900km into another 5000-6000km road trip and these LED lights are FU$#ING PHENOMENON to say the least and before i make my trip back I'm going to hot wire the fuse panel to run bambi mode and upgrade to brighter LED'S If I can find quality ones like Sylvania, worth the cash easy lol.

Stick with the sylvania lights you just got. Brighter is not always better. The design is super important.

Note: you say your lights are phenomenal in the post but also say you want to go brighter. If they’re phenomenal, keep them and don’t worry about it. Brighter will just end up completely
blinding others on the road. Speaking of which, make sure your lights are aimed properly. Most have to adjust a little lower when using leds in a halogen housing.

if you have a smaller car, try driving at your truck with the trucks headlights on and make sure they’re ok.

you can have an led thats insanely bright, but doesn’t throw that usable light on the road. The sylvanias are designed to mimic an incandescent filament better than some. This means they’ll work in your halogen housings better than others.

you have h13 lights. They’re high and lows in one bulb. In 2015 ford switched to separate dedicated high and low beams so they take separate bulbs. The good part is, when you turn on highs, your lows are still on. This is normal operation.

sealight are a brand of led a lot of people use. They’re not insanely expensive, but usually do a decent job. They work well in my high and fogs, but I had flicker issues in my lows with my daytime running lights, that’s why I went with sylvania. I’ve had them all in a year without issue.

Give Bambi mod a try, but I wouldn’t try to keep switching them out and try to go brighter. You’re going to waste money.

For your generation, the brighter lights would mean replacing your whole headlamp assembly with a projector HID or one of the $1000+ led units. Though I don’t know what they offer for the older trucks.

Yah so instead of adding brighter "bulbs" I'll be adding more lighting of some kind....need to look into further though to see what's available. Will be doing lot's of night time driving through the mountains so more light will be most helpful and the led's illuminate the snow so frigging good.

Lots of guys use aux lights mounted on either side of the bottom of the windshield. Something you could turn on with highs would be helpful. That combined with the Bambi mod, you’d have plenty of light and can flick it back to lows and not blind oncoming traffic.

Leds on snow covered roads are 100x better than incandescent, I agree.

Lights on windshield eh! Will look into that.

Was thinking of bolting an led light bar to bumper somewhere, but still need to check out my options.

Cheers 🙂

After doing some looking around I've decided I'm going to bolt a light bar to my hood and run a switch to inside dash, might add those pillars too!

The more light the better when driving through the mountains especially in winter.

Also these michelin x ice latitude tires I find lacking so will probably upgrade to something like Nokian hakkapa...whatevers or something better.

Cheers 🙂
