v8_ranch welcome back! That is a great looking truck! Most likely (okay with 100% confidence) you need a full timing job done (phasers, chains, guides, tensioners, VCT's and oil pump) in order to cure the dieseling noise.

Any idea on ballpark cost on that kind of service? Are most reputable shops able to do that, or is it a dealer deal. I have heard some stories about various things on the 5.4 that make it troubling for the wrong people to work on.

I suggest that whoever does the work, DEMAND OEM Motorcraft parts (Melling oil pump though). Should be around $2000 for a shop to do it all.

Spilled an entire large drink (cherry soda if you must know) on the passenger side floorboard, had to throw my Seahawks sweater on it as I has no towels.

Had to replace a 5" section of fuel line last night.....in the Starbucks parking lot.....in the dark.....
