2003 F150 5.4 not starting since cold snap
I have a 2003 5.4 Triton with about 78K miles. I last drove the truck on Friday and it sat in the garage over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday night were especially cold for our area, I believe we got below the 20's. Monday morning I attempted to start the truck and it would not startup. It would crank fine, but not catch.
I thought maybe it just needed a bit of help so I attempted to jump from my other car, it did not go.
Since then I have checked a few things suggested that may be the cause. I have removed and cleaned the IAC and checked the inertia fuel switch.
What happens when I turn the key on is I hear what sounds like a fan blowing right behind the instrument cluster. (A/C is off) About two seconds after turning the key to ON, I hear a THUD from the front end of the trunk. I've been unable to isolate the source of this at this time. When I turn off the key, the fan sound quits then something will make the THUD sound again.
I'm working on getting a scanner to get the codes, I may have to resort to the alternate method of getting codes.
