97 F150 Lariat Dome light wiring - how
So I've done several searches and haven't yet found help for this. I recently purchased a 97 F150 SCAB. It has the dome light with the two map lights built in. Since it wasn't working, I took it off and noticed that there are two wires with ends that have screw holes in them that were not connected to anything. For the life of me, I cannot figure out where to attach those two wires to the dome light. Any assistance?

Hmmm... well... The light under the hood works fine. The fuse is fine. The filament in each of the three bulbs in the dome is fine.
So when I first took apart the dome, I noticed that there was only one screw holding it to the roof. Neither of the two wires appeared to be connected. I also noticed that the dome housing had some burn marks or heat marks in several places on it.
Regardless, I grabbed a couple more screws and verified that they would pass a current. I used them and connected the two wires - one to each screw (see pics). Still nothing.
Did I not connect them correctly? Or am I missing something else?
Here's how I connected them:
Some of the "burn" marks. May be typical on a 15 yr old truck; I don't know:
...and for the record, my truck:

Do the puddle lights in the doors work? Only reason I'm asking is because if they don't work maybe you have a door latch that is not working properly. My dad has a 98 and we did a full LED swap on the interior, thanks to BrowningSCrew. Anyway, he has the same too wires, and 3 screws. I believe a third screw may be needed to help with the grounding of the unit. A test light would help a lot too. Ground the test light to a seat to floor bolt and check both leads.
May be a blown fuse. Good luck and good looking truck!
