which aftermarket cam for my 4.6 f150
hi there guys I have a 1998 f150 regular cab 4x4 4.6 flareside 3.55 gears limited slip. I would like to upgrade cams which cam would give me good hp and torque gains down low and a lumpy idle would be cool also would a pi head swap be worth while and i do have the romeo motor also i have 95,000 miles any help would be appreciated so far I have looked at the stage 1 and 2 trick flow track heat cams and the hitech racing stage 2 n/a cam please help

Go with a twick flow brand cam. And you will need alot more work then just cams like a new pcm/ecu etc. But that's what i have and I've gotten alot more low end tq from them.

coltrice: how exactly did you get your increased torque?
and I dont exactly have the money for the tfs heads but i might be able to do some ported pi heads swapped on

With my last engine I had a NPI short block with Fox Lake ported PI heads with custom cams from SHM(Sean Hyland Motorsports). Is was also a 5.4. So it didnt have the RPM capabilities that the 4.6 has. MPH, MMR, Comp, Crower. Just talk to the tech guys and find out what you would need, and what will work best. Just know that if the cam is too agressive the valves will hit the pistons. I machined reliefs in the pistons to make sure I had enough clearance for valve deflection.
Now I'm just running a reletively stock 03 5.4 with just ported heads and intduction mods. No crazy engine work here.
Edit: On average a a pi swap alone is worth 75-80 rwhp.
