They never said anything about the tank on mine. I brought it in, they changed the straps, and that was it. And i guess the reasoning for not changing the straps unless you do the tank is because due to the condition of the tank, there would be no purpose to just change the straps... I don't know, but that's my guess.

Wow. Did you really just say that? Apparently you have no concept of rust and how the metal deteriorates. FYI, they didn't come off the production line breaking. There is a reason the recall wasn't issued till years down the road.

I would never buy anything from you with that mentality and feel bad for those that do.

Get a tank from JC whitney, replace it yourself or have an independent shop do it. Then go back for the recall. Dealers charge outrageous prices and usually have genuine ford parts, which are a lot more $$.

There's no need for personal attacks. If its not rusted yet, its probably cause he lives in an area where rust is less of an issue. Cool your jets.

when you buy a used vehicle that has recalls you almost always get notified in the mail. Thats what happen to me the guy that had it before me didnt replace them either. And i checked them out they looked to be like brand new so dont come on here bitchin. And i didnt ever ask you to buy a ****ing thing from me. So get your panties out of a bunch.

What happens when it's rusted in back side of it that you can't see from looking at it? How about when you forget about it for a couple years and rust takes its toll?

I don't care what you do to your truck but there is a reason that this recall has been issued. It is a safety issue...especially for other drivers on the road. I for one do not want to be following behind you when the straps break and your tank falls off on the highway causing a major accident and possible deaths.

If you get charged for murder, you won't get out of it when you knew darn well there was a recall for the issue that caused it and you neglected to get fixed (For FREE!) because "ah it ain't broke yet cleetus...we otta be good fer another 100 thou, hand me another birr, I gots me betta stuff to do".

Car manufactures don't issue recalls for the heck of it. Why do you think the plug blow out hasn't had any recalls? It does not endanger anyone. Why do you think Toyota has had multiple recalls for their gas pedal link that is problematic? Safety.

Think past the end of your nose and don't be so self centered thinking about the "better" stuff you could be doing for the couple hours it takes the dealer to replace them (again...for FREE).

Fyi - I have a relative that neglected a recall on a Toyota and spent 3 weeks in the hospital because of it.

First of all they only recall things to save there ***. Ford or any other dealership dont care what happens to you. They just dont want to get sued thats the only reason they even have recalls. And if its been up there for 13 years what are the odds of it breaking later. And no its not free some of us work our trucks and dont have time to leave them at the dealer to **** off in. Same with the airbag issue on my 04 took it in not cause i wanted a new airbag but because i wanted the light to go out. So i took it in they had my truck a whole day. A day i could be working it. And what do you know i get in it the damn lights still on they didnt do a damn thing. They just got payed for my truck to set there. I bet you when most of those trucks come in they dont even touch them. They just say they did. But you can believe what you want.
