Default mudding? yay or nay?

Alright so I see everybodys truck on here muddy at some point and time but I'm not sure about it. What are the pros and cons of mudding? Ialways get a bunch if crap from my friends for never wanting to take my truck mudding... I know it will be a blast but I know these trucks have some hard to reach spots where they like to rust out... Any opinions? Will my truck start rusting sooner and turn into a piece of junk lol don't want that

Pros - having fun and a blast!

Cons - cleaning up afterwards and making sure people aren't tracking in mud into your interior.

Overall, back when I had my 94 F150 I took it mudding every chance I got since it had a 4" lift on it. But now in my 03 I doubt I would take it mudding at all. Too nice of a truck and don't have the cash at hand like I used to get it fixed in case something snapped while doing it. Maybe if I had a lift.....

you can probably wash it out pretty good if you really get in there good. the bigger problems you will encounter are body damage and mechanical damage. Not if but when has been my experience.
All depends on how much money ya got and how much you like repairing your truck and clapping it out. It is fun if ya got a good legal place.

It's fine just don't get crazy or stupid. Royal PITA having to wash it afterwards though.. Mud gets everywhere so I have to spend an hour or two just hosing it down getting all the mud off. You'll have a blast though, just not when washing afterwards.

Every time I go mudding something breaks. My current truck I've had for almost a year and I have never been in the mud just for the hell of it.

I used to go alot. But as i got older, i realized it wast worth the wear and tear on my truck. Especially tranny. Mud gets everywhere and wears out parts quicker. Especially front end. Its just not worth the hassle of finding a place to do it, then 1-2 hours of fun, and hours or days cleaning your truck or even spending time and money on replacement parts. Ill go through mud now, but only if i have a reason to. for example getting to the duck blind or deer camp. But i wont go looking for holes to play in. If you got the cash for possible repairs and the want to by all means go for it! But count me out on the play mudding. I only go if i need to get somewhere now. I will do some recreational offroading but i stay out the deep ruts/holes

Even our trucks rust quicker after mudding. I've been one time just to say I did and it was pretty stupid with my bald street tires and lack of tow hooks at that point lol. All my friends at school give me crap for not taking it all the time, but mine isn't down near as much as theirs for repairs. I'm still on my original transmission and rearend unlike them. Plus it's a PITA to totally clean it afterwards.

Its not really worth it dude. For me living in southern california, there's hardly a spot to legally off road so i would go mudding in non legal places like construction sites or dirt lots after it rained.

It you have legal areas to mud that are close by, do it at least once for the fun of it. But like other people said, cleaning it afterwards sucks and takes hours of undercarriage cleaning and possible engine cleaning...

It won't tear it up to bad just watch what u pull out with your truck I pulled my dads 250 out with a few real hard jerks as in I was at the bumper of his in low range and floored it and bent the the carrier that one cost me like $3,000 plus one set of spider gears and labor and a used rear end the second time
