My first f150!

My first f150!
(I've had 5 foxbodies, 1 65 stang, 67 Fairlane, 83 f100 swb, etc. no stranger to ford, just old stuff!)
I couldn't be happier. I'm new to this forum but big on other mustang sites. When finances took a crap, my wife inherited my 99 explorer Eddie Bauer 5.0 (love this thing) when we sold her 09 fusion. Then I started daily driving my 82 mustang lx coupe 5.0. For a year I drove that car. No ac. Texas summer. Big mountain biker so I had a rack on it all the time to transport my bike(s).
Well I finally realized I wasn't going to be able to afford to have a daily plus a toy (wife stopped working when son was born 17mo ago, medical reasons also) so I decided to sell my stang... This was hard. Took months for me to finally sell it in 01/13 after getting cold feet on several interested buyers. Well, I decided the if I wasn't going to have a toy, then I wanted to get a f150 4x4 or Chevy/GMC Z71. After weeks of looking on CL and having to share one car, I stumbled upon this truck. It was a god send to me! I offered 4,000 for it and drove away.
1997 F150 SC XLT 4x4 (all options minus leather; I hate leather) toreador red with gray interior. It had 173k on its 4.6L (W engine code, whatever this means). So I was skeptical. The trucks I seen so far was pathetic. We showed up and it had its share of "whiskey dents" but it was clean! Undercarriage was rust free (original NC truck) and interior was flawless.
I was thinking it was too good to be true. It'll run like crap, 4x4 don't work, auto shifts hard or sloppy, etc. nothing. NOTHING! We took it to a nearby parking lot and tried 4x4. Hi and lo. I promptly returned and offered the only cash I had... They took it. I am in love with this truck. Drives like new, u would be surprised with u heard it was almost 174k.
Sorry for the long drawn out story!!! I had to share, mustang folks didn't care too much. It came with a nice Century camper shell with tinted glass. I took it off and will be posting it on the classified ads when allowed.

Congrats on the new to you truck, she looks pretty nice and I've always liked the dark toreador red. You might want to reconsider selling the cap if your into outdoor stuff and have a kid or kids. They can really come in handy on road trips especially when you have a baby seat in the back seat. Just a thought.

That's the same color my first F150 was, an '89 F150.
