If your wanting power for racing or towing regearing isn't adding anymore power but will certainly feel like it does. Do you do any highway driving?

an internal combustion v8 engine like the 5.4 is just a fancy air pump that mixes fuel with that air and burns it.

heads with bigger valves and freer flowing ports, camshafts with more lift and or longer duration, stroker kits that give you more cubic inches, superchargers all force the engine to pump more air.

therefore more air pumped, more fuel buned= more power!

got mods, kn filters/intakes mufflers/exhaust pipes help but only about as much as you blowing on a firepit in your backyard helps build a bigger fire.
what really builds the fire up to a roar is MORE FIREWOOD and highwinds to blow on that fire or a mechanical fan blowing on that fire, like you might have seen a hundred years ago on a forge if any youngster here even know what that is, lol
if not heres a pic of that forge fan that will blow enough extra air onto a forge full of coals to melt iron.
not sure where to find these parts but im sure a google search will fix that. but internal mods like this are bound to be expensive unless you are knowledable enough to do your own labour

i like these ideas, wont cost much if anything and easy. I would be doing more hauling than anything, i do a good 50/50 split between highway and city driving. regearing is a possibility. Im not looking for outrageous numbers

This youngster doesn't only know what that is, he's used one. Basically its the same design as a supercharger that you would use on an engine and the same concept too. More air + More fuel = More Power, getting more fuel in usually isnt a problem, so all you need is the air!

I know the OP isn't looking to spend alot of money, but I have a question about an option that hasn't been suggested yet. Posssibly for the price of, or even less than the price of, new ported heads/intake+supercharger/turbo, might the OP possibly be able to find a good junkyard/rebuilt 5.4 set up to swap? YEah it would take some time to find a good one, but if that's the type of budget he's looking at, it would take alot less time to ruin his existing engine with improperly installed, or cheap side, power adders. Nitrous is a quick, relatively cheap route for big holy crap! gains, but without fuel system upgrades, there could be a big bang for the buck, and not in a good way.
Bottom line is, These engines are tuned to perform at their optimum efficiency given the componant parts, from the factory. Change one thing, ideally, something else needs to be changed as well. More power= more air+more fuel. If you want real tangible results, the more you have to spend. That's just my 2 cents.

i know what everyone is talking about lol ive went to school for automotive and have spent a few years getting into cards so the whole sarcastic tone to Curtk69's post is not needed, you can talk to like a big boy lol. If i had time and room to buy a 5.4 i would do it, but i dont want to turn this truck into a project.

Try the zip tie mod. It basically tightens ur throttle cable which has likely stretched over time. It wont give u power but it should feel like u gained some.
