That would be true with drums, since they would be the same brakes. If you have discs, it uses the hat portion of the discs to house the drums. In that case, backing up and hitting the brakes does nothing to either the parking brake or the disc.

Well finally after taking the advice from you guys and *staring* at my old parking brake for awhile, I finally figured out why I had so much slack.

I had originally had my cable run just through the area where the Yellow arrow is. Then realized that the cable also needs to be ran up through where the Red arrow is at. That made all the difference.

I was about 2 minutes away from removing the parking brake assembly all together and trying to figure out what went wrong that way. But was able to re-route the cable with the assembly still bolted on.

From there I just re-adjusted the cog wheel just under the axle on each side and it works like a charm. Kudos to all of you that helped me out.
