Replacing Battery cables
Greets! long time lurker first time poster. I've had some electrical issues in this truck, and am working through them 1 step at a time. Truck died last week, wouldn't start again. Relay checks out, so I took the starter off as it was hard to test( for same reason, tight space, I couldn't get the cables off until I dismounted the starter) Anywho, bench test, and it failed, so new starter. My factory battery harness is corroded beyond belief, so I'm going to hit that too while I'm at it. Ford wants over 200, and there is no way i'm doing that. I can get some 1/0 or 2 guage and fittings, I'm competent with soldering, but the routing has me a bit pickled.
The existing harness takes batt+ to relay, which goes on to fuse box, etc. It also carries signal from relay to starter, as well as a lead from batt+ to b+ on the starter. There is also a ground from the starter that comes up through the same system to batt-. My thoughts are a separate batt+ to starter, and starter ground to batt- are overkill.
tl,dr: I want to know what to hook up where. I plan to take batt+ to the relay, and run from there to b+ on the starter. This way my batt+ has a single lead off it, and I can loom both b+ and s from the relay to the starter together. IMHO, The starter should ground through the chassis, so I don't see the need for a separate cable there to clutter things up. So Batt- will run only to frame. Is this setup ok, or should the same cabling as the previous owner?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I'd appreciate a speedy reply, so I can get to it tonight(out on the street where the truck died, in -20c E
dmonton weather)

for those who care... I went with the same as what was done originally, and after getting rear ended in our escort at 9pm, was able to get the new starter on by 10:30 in the pitch black and move the vehicle before the snow ban was in effect... fast forward 2 months and I've got more starter woes...
