When I did my LT headers and exhaust I didn't think twice and cut the cats off. But of course I'm tuned for all of that.

I ditched the cats a long time ago. Just finished the install of the OBX headers over the weekend. Had to have the y-pipe modded to fit. My new 3" stock tailpipe, and Borla pro XS will be here today. Should sound awesome. In my honest opinion flowmasters sound great, but they are rather restrictive.

Got mine all hooked up today and I have got to say it is too damn loud.. Going to change mufflers again, or add a resonator to quiet it down some.

How do you like a single pipe vs the duals. I want to replace my 2.5 true duals by deleting the rear cats, y-piping into a single 3.5, with an XR-1 exited in front of the rear tire. Btw it'd have stock manifolds and front cats

What did you end up doing with the Y-pipe? Im gonna be running that exact setup, im going with the OBX headers with cats though, im afraid it will be way to loud without.

With stock manifolds, and cats it was not very loud. It had a nice rumble but was never what I wanted. I put l/t header along time ago and it sounded better. But I damaged a one offroad and removed them. I just got around to putting a set back on and this time with 3" pipe it is way too loud. 3.5" pipe is way too big for these truck especially with a stock engine.

Adam G. I recommend reading Otto's exhaust system thread(It's stickied and it's really good).
