I've seen many, and many from not a lot over a yard away. They are almost fearless as they have almost no equal. But I did, after 35 years here in the N top of South San Francisco, lose one to a cat. A privet hedge grew a sport 20 feet away and had berries. Birds ate the upper ones so a brave hummer went down to 4-5 feet and got snagged by a youthful well fed cat. Sad. I want to put a feeder up on a flagpole w a pulley, I think..This mild area stopped getting mini - freezes 10-15 years ago. Trees are just going dormant, some not dormant enough, a thing called, "chill hours," which is a spec each one gets. Hummers sorta hibernate too, migrate or not. And also eat knats etc. Ruby Throats are maybe the most common, and otherwise mallard-head green, and like mallards, color is more for the guys.

Rufus and Broad-tailed hummers are what I see here. The broad-tails are aerobatic masters and often "whistle" as they fly, especially as they dive-bomb from altitude.

Pick up three or four standard paper clips, and you'll have their weight in your hand.

And otherwise, they humMM like a very loud cat purrs as they whiz past. aor lower key, as they load a yard away, motionless,.except for wings, heart, brain. Eyes straight on your face, looking, like a dog... Friend? Or foe...

Great coffee table book, but a family heirloom, educational point. 1st link past the cards; N American or Eastern N American. I have my mom's.
She'd put the expired Christmas tree out on the front lawn, with 6" PCs of red yarn, (she was deaf in one ear, depression childhood strep; dad was color linds discovered when he had just 2 hrs of military flight school left.) Birds stole the yarn and nests were easier to spot a month or two later..Binocs, anyone?

Audubon even beats a $300 6 qt Kitchenaide.mixer.

I told him that I'd bet he ran across me then, lol.

Anyway, I've got a MC coil we're going to put on it. He's tried a new plug, swapped an injector, and put an aftermarket coil on it (didn't know the MC thing at the time), and it stays on cylinder 3 all the time. He's also got 150psi compression, so I'm wondering if he has an issue with the wiring. He said someone in a forum told him the PCM, but I don't see that being an "under load" only issue. I'll put my new scan tool on 'er too, and see what's up.
We put a MC coil on it that I had... same issue. Hooked up my Noid light to it, and found the problem. He's got a short in the harness.

Usual is to swap a coil and plug and see if the symptoms travel..If not, (as it did not,) it's what feeds to coil. But he has a good spare coil now. It should be carried in an ammo box or such.

He had done that already. No need to replicate tonight.

Headed down to pick Mika up from the animal hospital.
We finally got a diagnosis, and it's not good.
Her kidneys didn't fully develop, and she will only be with us for a short time.
We plan to love and spoil her until it's time to say good-bye.
