Question tire sizes and power issues

I gotta 98 f150 4.6L 4x4 and im doing a 3 inch body lift soon.and i have no current lift i. so bone stock at moment.but after the lift idk what size tires to put on, every1 sais 33s but i dont want to have rubbing issues and i dont want to lose power because i pull trailers and ppl out of ditches and all well id still like to be able to leave marks on the blacktop if i wanted lol so what standard size tire could i go with that wont kill power and wont rub? I currently got the stock 255/70r16s on. thanks ahead of time id really appreciate any info

go with a solid 33 if youre worried about power lose. you probably have 3.55or 3.31 gears. ive got no problem with my 35s but i also have the 5.4 and 3.73 gears.

im sure some others will chime in soon with similar set ups.

i would go with an agressive 33" tire. anything smaller than that is going to look hella goofy with a 3" lift.

My tires measure 32.10 inches and have clearance that could easily handle another couple inches so 35's would fit with no problem. You will lose a lot of pulling power tho. I went with the 32's because I pull a boat with 3.50 gears. It is a better power to ratio with this set up with my truck. I tried a set of 35's a friend had, but I lost a lot of take off power with the bigger tires so I went back to the 32's.

It's a crap shoot anyway you look at it. You either get exactly what you want or have to settle for something because of costs. You have to be sure the first time or it could be a big out of pocket mistake. Good luck.

You can fit 33's without a lift. And you probly won't be able to spin them on the pavement thought. Put the lift money into some 4:10 gears and she will be a lot quicker.

this is a good thought. like stated you can fit 33s without a lift...could squeeze 35s with a torsion crank and no lift. your power wont drop a ton if you go to 33s, theyre not that much bigger than stock tires.

could look into some gears but thatll cost you atleast $500 for the front and rear to be regeared IF you do the work yourself and thats not an install to take lightly. lots of precise measurements need to be done.

I'm running 33's with the stock 3.55 and I can spin my tires no problem anywhere. I do have the 5.4 though. I have torsion bars turned a little to level the truck out and a 33 tire is the max I can go in the front without major trimming.
