Default Transmission ???

My girlfriend has a 2000 f150 with a 4.2 and they were driving it before we were goin out and the first problem started the overdrive light started flashing. Then her father was driving it to work and when he climbs up a hill it started to slip with great concerns so he took it home and now it has sat for a year.

Definitrly the transmission. It sounds like it's gone for good to me . There are tons of threads about getting a new transmission if thats what your looking for. They can be pricey though.

How many miles? Auto or manual?

I'm guess its auto cause it has an overdrive light. Sometimes you can put Lucas transmission fix in it and get a few more miles out of it. My dads expy quit going into overdrive or reverse when we were 1000 miles from home and that stuff got us all the way back and to the transmission shop

Are you looking for suggestions or are you just telling a story?

Flashing OD light means it's in limp mode. A transmission shop can diagnose your issue for less than $100. If it has sat for a year there is potential for other issues as well. I would make sure to put fresh gas in it.
