Transmission problems
Hey guys I have a few questions
I have a 1997 f150 with a 4t70w auto tranny the 1st one went out at 211,000 miles I replaced it with a used one from a f150 that lasted for about 16k and it quit then I got one out of a town car that lasted till now it has 256,000 miles.
It has started to act up when I start off from a dead stop it starts off in 1st and very quickly shifts to 2nd and then very quickly to 3rd at less that 25 mph and when I come to a stop it feels like it wants to stay in 3rd and it will even bog the motor down to where sometimes it will die on me but if it does not die it will down shift back to 1st after I make a complete stop what could be causing this?
My 2nd question is if the tranny needs to be replaced again what can I do about replacing it with a 5-speed stick?
