Default What do I do? Buy a new hood or repaint the one I have?

I have a 99 F150, it is a California truck and the hood has paint issues. It flakes off. I took it to a body shop and he said it was the primer that was used and with it being a California truck and the sun it didnt help. I was quoted a little over 500 to repaint it. My question is, do I pay to repaint it? Or find a used one? My truck is white. My concern being that a different hood may not match up color wise to the rest of my truck? Is that an issue? The rest of my truck is in fantasitc shape so I dont want a different shade of white or anything like that. Just trying to save some money...

I am looking online and I am finding used hoods in excellent condition from 100-150. Its a shame it is cheaper to buy another hood than to repaint it. I use www.car-part.com

500 hundred seems pretty steep to just repaint the hood. If worse comes to worse you can always try to repaint it yourself lol if that doesn't work you can find a white hood and I'm sure it will still cost you half that

All the paint and primer has to be stripped and redone. I still think that even if I went to another body shop it would be a lot more than buying a used hood.

just sand it down your self and let the prime and spray it but 500 seems high to do that very high wont take an hour to sand it down, prime it sand it smooth another hour n paint it.. not a 500$ job 250$ at most
