Owners manual states 10k intervals but my dealer suggests 5k.

But but I took mine in to the dealer for the free first oil change (which I thought would also be a thorough inspection and service...wrong) they didn't even re set the %oil life remaining and put a sticker on the vehicle, I think on the winshield( peeled it off) to come back in 3000 miles. Pretty well established long time dealer. The question could also be why doesn't the ford dealer read the manual. And it wasn't a kid doing it.

The last couple changes I've been doing every 6,000 miles, with Mobile 1 full syn. I've got about 13,500 miles on it. I'm thinking about extending the intervals to 7,500. I keep forgetting to check the OLM before it's reset, just a feature I'm not used to having.

Me personally, I do mine at 5K. Over the course of 100K miles its not a big deal when you look at... its 7 more oil changes. I do my own so at todays cost it adds up to about 250.00 bucks. Not a bad investment in a 40K truck.

I do mine every 5k as well. It's also easier to remember when to change when the mileage is 5,10,15,20,etc as opposed to 7500,15000,22500,etc

That's true, maybe I'll switch to 7,000. I think I can handle 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, Etc.

If you follow the owners manual you don't need to remember anything. Just change your oil when the truck tells you.

From what I've gathered...there is no break in period.

I have 6200 miles on mine and its the original oil. I plan on doing 7500 mile oil changes.
