Of course, I don’t have a good pic of things clean, but you get the idea...
New box would go in place of the smaller bench. Large bench would get the top cleaned off, reconfigure the shelves so those two Craftsman drawer units and the silver drawers could go under. Red Craftsman box (far left, barely visible) is obviously too small.
Yes, it's the 56" US General Pro. As you can see, my lid ain't closing...lol, but you can put shallow stuff (probably 2 - 2 1/2 inches tall) in it and still close the lid. Probably a good spot for screwdriver assortments etc.
I aint got no fancy tool boxes, but I have an assortment of tools that gets the job done. My dad gave me an old Craftsman red rolling tool chest and a ton of tools and over the last 30 years I have added to it.

I like how the 56” has the added stainless/polished/chrome on the sides. Is that a dumb reason to favor it over the 44”? 🤔😂

Same here. When my dad died I inherited the top Craftsman box in my photo. Dad was an owner operator who did most of his own truck repairs and that box has quite an assortment of wrenches and sockets. Mostly all Craftsman from back in the day.
Great memories every time I go in that tool chest.
johnday in BFE[/utag] it looks like you’ve got a nice setup!
Here is something I saved from Facebook, a nice idea to keep drilling stuff with the drill press and takes up less space...
Thank you, you guys are giving me the nudge I need to cleanup the mess.
That's a handy way to stow that drillpress, mine is a floor mount, but if I had a benchtop, that's exactly what I'd do.
I did that to my sand blast cabinet.
Built a wood frame and added locking casters to it.
I don't really move it around, but it raised it 6" taller.
Now I don't have to hunch over to use it.
Oh you guys are funny. Thinking your garages/barns are in bad shape. My wife won't even go into our garage because I have so much crap in it right now and it's a pain to get around anything. I picked up some new tools over the holidays and got to the point where they went in the basement because I just can't find space in the garage right now. If we get a big snow storm, I am in trouble. I have a big 2 stage snow blower, but guess where it is... in the back of the garage and buried. It would take me longer to get the snow blower out than it would to snow blow the driveway. My garage is 26' x 22' LOL
As far as tool boxes go.... the easiest and fastest way to check the quality of a tool chest/box is to see how the casters are mounted and what the weight rating is. Cheaper tool boxes/chests will secure the casters with rivet nuts and have a lower weight rating. Better boxes/chest will usually have a nut actually welded to to the bottom of the box.
Or watch some torture test video's.....
This is the video the Snap-on Dealer showed me when I was shopping for a box.
Those are (6) 1022 tool chest's supporting that dump truck !
