Default 2016BoostedGreyGoose's XLT Sport Build, Yeah Finally

This has been a long time in the making and honestly, the right time to start a build is day one!

Just a few quick recognition of a few key members that I greatly admire and thank for their contributions to me AND our community.

Livnitup
flsdiver
TB15XLT
and Ridgebacks

Many others were/are great supporters, yet these 4 were instrumental to me personally for various reasons.

My build isnt for everyone and I respect that....it goes against the grain and yet does'nt apologize for it. My build is all about building a lowered, tuned, sport truck with lots of unique features that were crafted by me. If you are offended at MY use of a truck that you deem wasted, please, feel free to stop in and see what im doing, but know that I understand and respect your point. Again this will def NOT appeal to the masses but it will be different from even my other lowered members. I bought this truck not for its capabilities, but rather its sexy appeal and what I saw as a potential to make it into my vision of ow I feel it should have come as a "Sport" truck. Thanks for taking the time to read this and check in to see what I am up to as this is my journey to a destination that has been in the making for some time! It will start out slow, typical maybe even boring, yet at other times it will be thick with many pics, showing triumph as well as defeat, lol just part of the journey.

Goal: Build a lowered, high performance street truck with visuals to match.... using modifications that are mostly OEM.

I bought my truck just a little over a year ago last March
2016 XLT Sport 2wd 3.5 EcoBoost. I bought it sight unseen with 18 miles on it...today it has about 4.7K miles on the odometer. The only real option I wanted was the twin panel moonroof and a 2wd truck in Magnetic.

The day after I bought my truck home, the 1st pic:

1st "mod" I did, lol, was to remove the fender "Sport" decal.

Following week I had the windows tinted 20% all around, an then quickly moved on to one of my favorite mods....the mesmerizing LED tail lights!

Next came the 8" productivity screen and an FCIM from a Lariat, which later i swapped out with another FCIM from a Lariat 502A pkg. In the pics you can tell the differences because the regular Lariat FCIM looks like the basic XLT one, but adds chrome accents around the *****... the 502A adds the beautiful knurled ***** for a much nicer upscaled look. The main reason I swapped out the FCIM was to add the back lit blue led lighting to match the dash.

I was so excited for an 8" productivity cluster than I bought a Canadian version...no worries, I simply changed out the KPH overlay for an MPH one.

502A on the left, 500A on the right

502A with knurled *****

Line-X was the order of the day for my next mod. Went with the premium which added UV protection.....then placed an order for a BakFlip F1 from Autoplicity as well as for a BedRug with tailgate mat....

I knew right away which wheels i wanted and I wanted to go big. Ordered a set of 24x10 Dub Shot Calla wheels. The finish on them was a dark tint that i didnt care for soooo I threw them in my blast cabinet and media blasted them clean N raw...then powder coated them semi gloss black....this is a lot of wheel!

Dark tint

Semi gloss black

Cant have wheels and a 4x4 stance so i placed an order for belltech's 3/5 lowering kit...which I later sold still BNIB and opt'd for McGaughy's 2/4 lowering kit...ONLY to buy the Belltech front struts and rear shocks. Lol now the lowered numbers are 3/4.

Also at this time I ordered Weathertech front and rear mats.

A stubby ant was in the cards so off to Amazon it was to find this lil guy!

Since I was going lower, I also knew that I wanted a slightly different looking front end so I found AirDesign and ordered this front bumper cover. I had it PTM because the matte black that it was sold in would have been very out of place. The driving lights will really add to the front end and I plan to wire them to the fogs.

Around this time I kept thinking about not doing enough research before i bought my truck, and it bothered me that I didnt have the Lariat dash board or LED headlights...it literally made me sick thinking about it. I usually never assume anything, and this is why. Read more about both of these issues for me later on.

Having illuminate vanity mirrors should not be considered a luxury on a near 50K MSRP truck, lol, so I did what anyone would do, I ordered and installed them! The driver side that I bought also has Homelink....I mention this because it can be bought without Homelink. Before installing them I replaced the halogen festoon lights with 3 SMD LED versions....

I've been anxiously waiting for this thread and I am already taking notes on things I would like to ask you about

I have a magnetic 2wd screw as well and would like to do many of the mods you did, just going the other direction in altitude.

Looking forward to these posts. You've definitely done some that I'd like to do on my XLT, but some that are level mods.
Looking at the Lariat APIM bezels, I like the 500A a bit more, for the non-glossy *****, but like the knurled ***** on the 502A.
Did you get all of the Auto climate & heated seat functions working?

No I honestly didnt bother, because, as you will see later on, I had the opportunity to move forward on adding of of that, however it was aot more work, and honestly im good with the manual. Once you open up one project you never really have a straight shot at what your trying to do, and some instances you open a can of worms.

So, does the Lariat bezel still function as a manual control? I don't use heated seats, but maybe 4-5 times a year in Houston, but don't want them to be disabled. Would they still work through the APIM control?

When I 1st installed it, the controls only worked on high or off...lol I reflashed the APIM with MY truck's as built data and it now works as it did before. Minus the heated seats. They dont work because it is required to replace my driver's seat control with the heated/cooled module from the Lariat. This is my theory and I am 99% confident, I just havent had the time with all other mods, or the need to focus on heated seats here in FL. (Bhamilton has asked me about this a few times...gotta do it if just for him...lol)

I like the Sport grille but knew i wanted the Platinum,so I found one at a good price with a lil damage. Didnt bother me as I was going to have it PTM Magnetic anyway

Then I came across a Limited grille! Quick sell of the Platinum grille on craigslist and I was back to prepping the limited grille for the next step...
